MattyCollector 2012 Q&A Answers April 2

Posted on April 2, 2012 at 3:21 pm by Shin Densetsu under Toyark Spotlight

Hope everyone enjoyed April Fools Day! Now back to business, we got our latest batch of answers from the MattyCollector 2012 Q&A:

1) Does Mattel plan on ever producing and selling any more individual 6″ figure stands and flight stands, for MattyCollector.com?

A) Yes, we do have some plans but are not ready to confirm details yet.

2) We got word last week that DC Universe All Stars wave 1 was going to be rearranged, with subsequent waves and figures canceled. What led to that decision, and what can we expect in the future? We ask this also because not all DC fans have bought the Infinite Earths subscription.

A) Yes it will. There will only be one more wave this year. As for what led to the choice of overhaul, sometimes, we need to adjust to demand in the market.

3) Are Movie Masters going to include strictly Dark Knight Rises designs, or is Ras Al Ghul and others like Ninja Bruce Wayne from Batman Begins a possibility?

A) We are looking into all 3 of the Nolan Batman films as inspiration for the future of the MM line. Only time will tell.

4) You guys have done Vertigo characters in the past with Sandman, Animal Man and Swampthing, any chance we’ll see other more well known Vertigo characters like John Constantine, Anton Arcane and the Unknown Soldier?

A) As long as characters are being used in the standard DC Universe we will gain access to them! All of these might be good candidates for Club Infinite Earth slots!

5) We’ve seen your upcoming New 52 Batman, and noticed it lacks double jointed elbows and knees. So, if Dick Grayson, arguably a more flexible character than Bruce Wayne, were to be produced for the DC Universe line, could he be viable for double jointed knees and elbows?

A) Sure he could. But nothing to confirm right now.

Hello folks! Please post your questions here for the MattyCollector 2012 Q&A!

Some dissappointing questions there, and some even more dissappointingly bland non-answers.

Did the Toy Guru suddenly get taken over by Hasbro's answer people?

(...nope. They were still too straight forward to be Hasbro.)

I came up with the questions myself because for the past few months, no one was posting questions. By all means if you all have questions, please post them!

I have been. I've got like, the last three or four posts in the "Ask Mattel: DCUC" thread. I even raised a minor complaint about how hard it is to locate (Case in point, I can't find it now, so I can show you! It's a sticky and I can't find where it's at), how easy it is to miss, and how it would be a better idea to have one consolidated thread.
I think I even asked if we were still doing it, at one point because so long had passed without even an acknowledgement or an ask mattel being posted.

Maybe they're getting FED UP with MattyCollector?

Will there be more than 3 new action figures for TDKR action figures?

Well I de-stickied the old Matty Q&A threads today. To make it easier, post all questions here. This is now the main Q&A thread. We gotta submit our next round by March 1st, so you have over a week to post questions.

I guess it was another thread I was asking if we were even doing it anymore, and mentioned how hard it is to locate.
But either way, exactly like I said, I got the last three posts. And the last one wasn't that long ago at all. So I *have* been using it.

    My questions-

The poll for the Infinite Earths subscription exclusive winner was Metron. Does this exclude the others included in the poll from being made, or was the poll to decide which of these figures was going to be the subscription membership exclusive, while the rest were planned for full club release?

Aside from making toys that you feel everyone will want, do you have any goals you hope to achieve with the IE Club that you weren't able to achieve with DCUC retail line?

Does Mattel have any plans on revisiting the 3.3/4" scale, and giving them articulation that can compete with Hasbro's MU and Joe lines?

When can we expect to hear more concrete information about the DCU Infinite Earths subscription club? (More about when we can expect it to start, and simular information about scheduling, more than about what toys we don't know about.)

    Here's a few questions:

    1. Does Mattel have the rights to do the DC Watchmen comic versions? If so, could there be a chance of getting Comedian, Nite-Owl, Silk Spectre, Rorschach, Ozymandias and Dr. Manhatten in the same 4 Horsemen DCUC bucks we know and love?

    2. You guys have done Vertigo characters in the past with Sandman, Animal Man and Swampthing, any chance we'll see other more well known Vertigo characters like John Constantine, Anton Arcane and the Unknown Soldier?

    3. Is there some legal issue that's preventing you guys from doing Hulk Hogan in the Legends line? For once, we get Macho Man Randy Savage, but no Hogan? Hmmm.

    4. Are you guys going to be offering DC All-Stars through your site, too, or will I have to hunt these down at my local Walmart?

    5. Are you guys ever going to offer a buy now/ship later option so that we can save on shipping costs? I imagine if a company like BigBadToyStore managed to pull this off, then a goliath like Mattel should find this childsplay. That's why a lot of people aren't sold on subscriptions. Who the heck wants to spend an extra $10 per figure per month? If you had the buy now/ship later option, we would be saving around $120 on shipping costs.

    6. Any chance you guys will be releasing another Gleek/Wonder Twins set? Perhaps with a different pose or varied set of accessories? I feel like you guys are really screwing the fans when you make essential items to collections exclusive to subscriptions and special events that not everyone has access to. A repaint, fine. Like how Hasbro had Compound Hulk, not essential to a collection, but interesting. The ghost and stone versions of King Grayskull, another good concept. But making Shadow Weaver limited to subscriptions and Gleek/Wonder Twins exclusive to conventions/limited sell? That's a bit of a screwjob if there ever was one.

Thanks for the questions guys, keep 'em coming! They let us send up to 5 questions and it's usually twice a month, so the more questions we can pool from, the easier it will be all around.

A few times last year they gave us some really good answers. Let's hope it happens again.

I have a few questions about the Young Justice 6-inch line:

Why did you decide to use Kid Flash's costume from the first three episodes (the costume in the 4-inch KF/Flash two pack), rather than the costume he uses for the rest of the season (the costume used on the other 4-inch KF toys)?

Considering that Batman, Red Arrow, Guardian, and Sportsmaster seem to have custom upper torso pieces, why does the 6-inch Robin have a re-used torso that is so much more muscular than his lean appearance in the show? And is there any chance at a new, slender-build torso for future characters that have that appearance? Roid-Robin is a ridiculous looking flaw to an otherwise spotless line.

I haven't seen this online yet, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place: When will the Club Infinite Earths figures go on sale for non-subscribers who didn't get a chance to get in on a subscription?

I think August or september is when they open up for new subscriptions, and allow people to drop out.

Hrm. My understanding, according to what I read on Mattycollector, was that the club figures would also be available to non-subscribers at a higher price. Maybe I'm being too optimistic. haha

Oh, I'm sorry. I misread, and thought you were asking when the subscriptions would open back up.
No, no hard date has been given yet for when figures will go on sale for non-members. And I don't think they announce them until they're about ready to put them up.

When might we see what DC All-Stars packaging will look like?

Which incarnations of Batgirl & Hawkman are planned for All-Stars Wave 3?

Will All-Stars Wave 3 Steel feature any vacuum chrome metalized pieces?

Interesting answer. Interesting in how straight forward and frank it is (As well as how it doesn't even try to defend the decision not to articulate them by saying something about "We give them exceptional accessories" or some such nonsence).

Can you elaborate? I'm not too keen on Superboy, we can send that question in for the next round(April 1st). The only costumes I'm familiar with are his 94 red and blue with jacket and shades, shirt and jeans, and the white suit from Young Justice.

I hope this constitutes as a valid question, but did Matty collector scrap those 3.75" Super Deformed Masters Of The universe toys they showed off awhile back?

    They looked really cool.

There's his superman dies logo t shirt, with jeans. It's plain, but it looks really cool.

I was super excited at the Scareglow, tiny yet well sculpted, it's right up my alley, plus that face was simply awesome! Though I guess that's related to sculpt.

By the by, what's iirc mean?

    Also thanks for the consideration!
