An item that was almost overlooked thanks to the craziness of ToyFair was the official reveal of the Lego Minecraft Micro World set at Lego World Copenhagen. This set started as an idea on the Lego Cuusoo community site and received 10000 supporting votes to bring attention to the idea. The original creators of sets/ideas that are pushed through to production earn 1% of the total net sales of the product. Minecraft developer, Mojang, has stated that they will be donating their 1% that they receive to charity.
The set will be available for purchase this summer in select Lego brand retail stores and the Lego online shop. It can be preordered right now though, exclusively through Mojang retail partner Jinx and will set you back $34.95.
The Lego Minecraft Micro World is set number 21102 and will total 480 pieces, including four Lego Minecraft modules, extra pieces for wood, dirt and stone, and two “Micro Mobs“: Steve and the iconic Creeper.
Lego and Minecraft Together At Last
Should be interesting to see what all comes of this. I'll probably get at least the cheapest set they make.
I'd be willing to bet this is more video game related then toy wise, given a Lego Mindcraft set would actually be fairly lack luster.
It's odd when you think about it. One would figure Lego'd have been the first to make a game like Mindcraft long before Mindcraft ever hit the scene.
It makes a lot more sense then the sub par action platformers they've been churning out.
I think it's a no-brainer for the two to get together, but why do I feel that Minecraft will get lost within the Lego-branded stuff?
I'll be really curious to see if the Minecraft side can stay distinct. With their other partnerships, they're so unique it's easy. Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Indiana Jones, etc. - all easily identifiable even in Lego form.
Lego Minecraft Set to be Revealed at Lego World Copenhagen
honestly, any kid who grew up in the 90s(like me) who remembers playing lego island would kill for this to be a game.
what do you mean?
oh come on guys...here. It was basically an exploration/building game you could finish in like an hour or two. You build the vehicles to get around the island. It was awesome for its time back in the mid 90s. Its pretty much the first of all the other lego games you see today.

Good to know we'll be seeing what they've got in the works in a week. I'm not against them making a video game, but I still think that sets are an absolute must.

id like to see minecraft using actual lego pieces tho...then id probably, maybe, play it.
Isn't there a guy on MineCraft recreating Pokemon?
So, uh...Anyone still actually care about this?

Looks kind of lame, to be honest. For $34.95 you might as well just buy the game.
I'm still trying to figure out why this is happening.
You don't get much for $35. Most of these are just standard Lego pieces you can get elsewhere. Sadly, I'll probably buy it just for the Creeper minifigure.
