Thanks to a post on our network site TFW2005 we have learned of potential new Samurai Pizza Cats toys! Originally found on CyberGundam Blog were a pair of images showcasing a very articulated (and well sculpted) Speedy Cerviche from the Samurai Pizza Cats.
Nothing more is known about these at this time, but judging by the picture, Speedy would have several interchangeable hands, a few other accessories, and possibly some sort of Dio type of backdrop (potentially made out of the packaging?). Rest assured, you will know more as soon as we do, but for now enjoy the images and let us know what you would want to see in some modern Samurai Pizza Cats toys!
Samurai Pizza Cats Figures Coming? Images of Speedy
Thanks to Luffy @ TFW2005 for the post.
Never saw this show, always sounded like a bad play on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to me. But this toy looks awesome. I'm now intrigued!
!!!! Give me Guido Anchovie!
ill be first in line for articulated street shark figures. i never saw samurai pizza cats when i was a lad.....
This says it all!!
Samurai Pizza Cats intro - YouTube
Did you guys stateside get an SPC line(20+)years ago??,i owned a fat guy(General Catton maybe)with two shoulder mounted cannons that shot pincer type projectiles,he was about Joe height, very anime styled, with loads of removable armor pieces,i think you could interchange all the characters accs. (i bought him from a stall on a market,a few stalls further round they had Speedy but i had no cash, and my parents wouldnt lend me any to buy him!!) Does anyone remember it?? Is it possible this is a re-release from that line??
NO! I would have loved that! Was hooked on the show as a tyke. Man the crap the 90s gave us. As bad as a lot of those shows were, I will never let them die in my heart! And that includes grabbing this line! AND Street Sharks (if made) ... and Biker Mice From Mars!
what the hell is this?! some kinda terrible poor mans ninja turtles knock off?
SPC is, i believe, originally japanese and dubbed for the west.
this is awesome! I grew up with the show, the early japanimation that led to pokemon etc, it's basically cats that fight crime in a dojo that have robotic suits and love pizza lol.
I wonder if the Power Rangers are as mad at the Samurai Pizza Kats as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are at the Power Rangers?
Yeah i loved the show, you have to remember us poor Brits had very little exposure to the wonders of japanese cartoons, i can remember Cities of Gold,Ulysses31,Star Fleet,Jayce and the Wheeled Warriorsand SPC,(i think SPC came out very late 80s)which is why its particularly manic brand of cartoon stuck in my brain!!if memory serves the badguy was a really angry fox,who was in charge of a legion of ninja crows, who spectacularly self destructed when they (ALWAYS!!) failed to complete their missions!! I cant remember what the fox actually wanted, but i do recall the 'cats had a high tech base/pizza shop in the middle of the city(complete with railgun to launch the 'cats on their missions/to deliver pizza.)
And a bit of the theme tune went:
Samurai Pizza Cats
Who do you call when you want a slice of pepperoni
Thats all i got sorry, but its great to see that Speedy figure, and after 20+ years maybe il get chance to pick him up after all!!
This would be awesome.
What... the heck... is that? Whatever it is... it is AWESOME! LOL.
I used to love this show. Watched it when I was a little kid. Anyone remember that aside from Speedy, Guido and Polly, they also had a backup team? One of them had glasses, and there was this huge guy with heavy artillery mounted on his shoulders. I thought the backup team was awesome even though they rarely appeared. LOL.
I hear ya Pro
I remember this show all too well too. Glad to see it getting some recognition after all this time. I would like to see some variant facial expressions on these figures though, like Figma's or something.
Awesome. I am so buying this. I used to watch that show every Saturday.
I vaguely remember the show and at the time I thought it was a really strange take on TMNT. Only years later would I find out its true origins.
I don't ever remember seeing a toy line, though my adolescent mind probably disregarded anything other than Transformers, Joes and He-Man while in the toy aisle.
