Image of Assembled Voltron from Mattel’s Club Lion Force

Posted on August 18, 2011 at 2:36 pm by Deefuzz under Voltron Toy News

Thanks to Collection DX, MattyCollector has sent out a new image of the fully assembled 23″ Voltron from Mattel’s Club Lion Force subscription line. Shown along with the fully assembled gestalt are the individual lions and the human team members.

Also remember that the Club Lion Force subscriptions close on August 22nd, so there is not much more time to act if you want to get your exclusive Sven figure that we reported earlier!

I have the sub for this line. I think it's worth it to own a Big Ass Voltron.

it's definitely going to be impressive. and honestly if the lions design utilized metallic silver (or better yet vac metal) legs mattel would've totally had me. i just can't get past the pale legs. imo, there isn't enough contrast in the piece.

off topic: maybe mattel will create a new dc 1/18 scale line using the articulation of the pilots

for some reason i have a strong desire to purchase this.

i imagine that its obscenely expensive if it has 'club' in it.

Its $280 right? I like how they have the drivers, do they actually go inside of them?

If I recall correctly from the video, the included keys open a "hatch" for the figures to sit in, but there was no demonstration that the hatch could close over the figures.

Yes, the pilots actually fit inside the lions. Hatch closes and everything.

The pilots fit in, and the hatches close with them in. You can fit two drivers in the blue lion to accommodate Sven.

This is more of an update to the original PLASTIC version that had an entire toyline (castle, action figs, etc), not the smaller metal version. Same thing with the original; the pilots fit in.

I kind of like the white legs just because it's a little different. I still have the original, and the chrome held up pretty well, but it doesn't need to be 100% identical for me. It's close enough, so I joined.

the thing that excited me about this interview is the fact that the lions will be able to achieve a proper "A stance". that's freakin awesome. in the photos released thus far they've looked like bricks.

i'm still not crazy about the leg color. i simply do not like the fact that they are so light.

I also bit the bullet on this one. Want the real kicker? I *never* watched Voltron. I heard about it as a kid, but never watched it. Didn't know when it was on, not even sure if it even aired here or if we had the channel that aired it. Never knew anything about it other than it having robot lions (that lets face it, look more like mountain lion/panther/stripeless tiger/wildcat or a lioness) piloted by youths that formed together to make a giant robot humanoid.

My nephew(who was only a year younger than me) had the red lion and the fat pilot who had black hair. I found the toy extremely brittle and the legs began to snap off. The closest thing we had that I saw was Saber Rider, and that show kicked serious ass. Sweet theme song. Cool characters. Wild West meets Giant Robo. The Bismarck was the shit and he was voiced by Optimus Prime himself. Anyhow, I signed up because this toy looks freaking amazing and thus was worth it for me to buy. I still haven't watched Voltron, by the way.

I don't have any other subscriptions, not to DC Universe, not to Ghostbusters (which I was a huge fan of to ridiculous proportions), not to MOTUC, but I signed up to Voltron because it just looked like a must have toy whether you're a fan or not. :]

Hate to say it, but I don't think they will. The interview was talking about Voltron having the "A" stance. I think the separate lions won't have any more articulation than the original because of the auto-transform function.

IDK, I remember reading through all those questions and I thought they were specifically talking about the loins legs having extra articulation the prototype did not have.

I pulled the trigger early on with this sub. I had a friend at SDCC confirm the awesomeness of this set. next years gonna be rough.

I'm very unimpressed with these and really wish I'd broken down and picked up the Masterpiece one while it was easily available(and cheaper too).

I joined a couple weeks ago. I'm actually thrilled about the white color. I've been wanting a giant cartoon accurate Voltron for years. Cool metallic versions already exist in several forms.
