In-Depth Look: Green Lantern vs Zodac

Posted on August 12, 2011 at 9:52 am by Prowl 2009 under DC Toy News

Although it was announced the DCUC vs. MOTU line was cancelled, Mattel did promise that both the Green Lantern vs. Zodac and Supergirl vs. She-Ra 2-packs would be out before the end of the year, thus finishing off the line.

Today, thanks to our buddies over at The Fwoosh, we have an in-depth look at the first of these 2-packs: Green Lantern vs. Zodac.

DCUC Fan’s get Green Lantern Hal Jordan in this 2-pack. He is, essentially, a straight-up repack of the TRU exclusive with the metallic paint job from last year. Accessory wise, he comes with the machine gun construct from DCUC Wave 11 John Stewart. I have to say, why Mattel didn’t pack in the fist construct instead is beyond me.

MOTU Fan’s get Zodac with this 2-pack. Again, he is, essentially, a straight-up repack, but features new gloved hands and boots, making him, in my opinion, the best Zodac figure to date. He comes complete with a laser pistol.

So, there you have it. It’s a nice entry into the series, but again, I would’ve prefered Hal with a fist construct over the machine gun. However, that’s the only true gripe I have about this set.

Enjoy the attached photos thanks to our friends over at TheFwoosh!

This Zodac also has regular feet (as opposed to the webbed/3 toe feet).

A little off topic, but have you heard anything about the Bizarro/Faker pack hitting retail? It's tough to interpret what they said when they released their statement about this line being cancelled.

I haven't heard anything myself. All I know so far is that the Zodac and She-Ra 2-packs will be hitting retail before the end of the year.

This fist thing also baffles me. :/ Also, the only difference I see between this Hal and the TRU 2-pack Hal (which I bought) is that this has completely white eyes instead of colored pupils like my TRU Hal.

I think that they packed in the gun, so that it would be laser vs laser? lol And Im pretty sure that Hals paint job is a little different, because he the black on him is glossier, and his gloves look like a shiny pearl color instead of white. Wich makes me want it, even though I have to many Hals.

His costume is different. More modernish/movieish design, where every Hal to date so far have all been the silveraged style costume.
At least I believed the TRU exclusive singlepacked metallic release was the silverage costume.

EDIT: Correction. My bad. Evedently the TRU Metallic Hal *was* this costume.

Yeah, me too. Almost every result from my googlesearch brought up almost exclusively the Sinestro Two-pack Hal.

^ Now I'm trying to remember my first MOTU figure. It may have been Skeletor or He-man, but I can't be certain....

This set does make a cool battle. I'd like to see some fiction go with it. If Zodac and GL make it to Canada, I'll probably pick up this set.
