I totally digging Wave 2.
So it looks as if Legends is becoming a 6" extension of the Marvel Universe line? Very smart, actually, from a marketing standpoint.
Seems like a rather underwhelming set of reveals, but I guess Hasbro's going to NYCC this year, too, so held some stuff back for that.
Was surprised there wasn't another wave of Cap stuff unveiled. I figured that line would at least have a little more planned, but it looks like Cap and Thor are indeed finished.
I guess it makes sense in terms of getting everything sold through in time for the Avengers line next year (probably in March).

IIRC Hasbro didn't make any announcements at NYCC last year, so I doubt there'll be something there this year.

Can't imagine thinking this was underwhelming though. We got a lot of new figures.
Add ROQUE... CLOAK & DAGGER.... ELEKTRA..... BISHOP & OMEGA RED TO NEXT YEAR ALSO! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Fantastic pictures and coverage Toyark team. Well done.
Gotta say, Scarlet Witch and She-Hulk... WOW
Hasbro loves us!!!!
Nova Prime, Scarlet Witch, Future Foundation complete, She-Hulk (with red hopefully not far behind!), Jubilee, beast, and more!!!!
Hasbro, just send me the bill already. My wallet can't wait to explode in pretty green colors.
All this, and to top it off an announcement for Mockingbird as a live action tv show with a covert affairs/chuck spin to it. Just yay!!! She definitely can't be far behind now for a figure too!
Was it normal 90s Jubilee or vampire jubilee or will we be seeing both in the long run? I guess it's a bit late to ask, but the lack of colors on the proto makes it hard to tell. (Normal would be bright colors under the jacket, vampire is just black under the jacket.)
I wish they weren't so wink wink on the SDCC colour Sentinel being available at retail. I don't know whether to shell out the 110+ dollars or to wait... It's like when a little sibling is trying to be cute by being annoying and there's a fine line between ha ha and getting pissed off... >:|
I would think the Arnim Zola figure would have a holographic face were at different
angles, he changes faces.
I would just like to thank Toyark for giving me the best pics and the quickest updates throughout this comicon. You guys have done some damn fine work. Thank you for making this a great geekout weekend for me!
Man, I just can't stop squeeing for Nova, beast, Jubilee, scarlet witch, and she-hulk.
I'm down to only a handful of characters I still want now. =D
OMG!!! Scarlet witch and she-hulk have upper thigh and calve swivels! She-Hulk has bicep swivel!!!
The new female bucks are amazing!!!
Future Foundation Spidey has got some great articulation going for him too!
It's... It's... Bucky!!!!
Awesome!
I am gonna be broke! You can believe I am gonna pick up every single one of these figures!
I've been thinking long and hard about how I feel about this year's SDCC.
I think unquestionably, this is the biggest day for Marvel Universe/Legends in the entire year. And as such, we intend to see big surprises on what the remainder of this year and the next year holds for us.
First, I'm struck by how underplayed the entire Marvel line was. Legends only had two waves shown, and Universe didn't stir up much either. I can only conjecture, that MU for the past 3 years has held the Marvel market and it had a lot of press coverage at past cons. Now that we have ML and MU, the spotlight has to be shared. So I think that detracted away from the attention for both.
Second, the lack of novelty or new direction in the MU line is a bit disheartening. For about 3 yrs now, we have had the same getup for the MU line; single cards, comic packs, GB, Masterworks and exclusives. While that is an impressive lineup for any toyline, it is obvious that MU is one of the most sought after and popular toylines out there right now. As such, it strikes me that they haven't expanded there ideas to vehicles. I was really expecting that this year.
Third, the BAF proceedure for ML seems brilliant. It seems like the Hasbro team really brainstormed on how to release more characters while trying to prevent collectors fromhaving to rebuy characters for variants etc. The only problem is that if the distribution continues to suck as bad as this, it will be hard to get either change of a figure, and also complete the primary or secondary BAF figure.
Last, while we may not have received the utmost sought after figure (Ares), we seem to be getting a lot of good figures still.
I break it up into 2 categories:
1) Old figures redone
2) New figures
Hasbro, I think in a good way, seems to be redoing all the old figures. Year 1 Marvel Universe and Year 2 are completely different. The quality of the comic pack is increasing, the sculpts and articulation more detailed. They are making a concerted effort to redo the figures from year 1 and update them. I respect this.
The choice of new figures is also well received in my opinion. Nice mixture of obscure with well known. While there are a lot of the traditional Spiderman, Iron Man figures, it's really not that bad. Hasbro does a magnificent job of giving us new costumes. A Future Foundation Spiderman is a good move I think.
Lastly, I think we all knew that Fin Fang Foom was gonna happen. It'll be interesting to see who the next one will be, because it won't be nearly as obvious. Galactus, Sentinel and FFF all seem to be very clear choices.
All in all, minorly disapointed that Hasbro isn't really being more creative with vehicles, they are still maintaining a strong front.
I can see why no vehicles have made their way into the line yet: Because outside of Star Wars, vehicles don't sell all that well (and even Star Wars vehicles tend to linger a while on shelves).
Though after having seen the movie, Hasbro made a huge mistake in not making vehicles for Captain America that represented the movie designs. Instead of repainted Iron Man 2 castoffs, I think people would've been a heck of a lot more excited about some good motorcycles, HYDRA tanks, and/or the Red Skull's car. Seriously.
Sadly, I'm sure the same will hold true for the Avengers line, and we'll just end up with the same 4x4 repainted with SHIELD or Avengers logos on it, rather than anything actually from the movie.
