if i can say anything on how neca is handling the predator license it's this, they are really really going above and beyond with this line in terms of detail, accuracy and the articulation seems to be evolving too. they must be a lot of pride and love involved. great job.

hmmm didn't someone already release Gort as a SDCC exclusive?????

OH YEAH....Hot Toys and the Guardian Predator!

    Way to be original Neca.

I'll wait to pass judgement on the figure but if it's anything like Neca's Predators line I'll stick with my HT. Maybe Neca will one day realize NO accessories and a non-removeable mask equals PASS.

i made a removable mask custom neca predator a while back. ultra nightmare in that size without tooting my own horn but it was a bitch to get the mask to fit over the face and stil look the right size. the hot toys predators are ok but compared to the overall level of surface/ over all sculpting, proportions, paint and accuracy and ultimately the price the new neca toys trounce the hot toys versions no contest.

    Ohhh Really?

Hmmm...if Neca is sooo accurate...why did they lazily just stick a Gort bio-mask on a Predator 1 body? Doesn't look very accurate to me.

You are right though, they are quite cheap compared to HT but imo...You get what you pay for. I will take individual, and brilliantly detailed armor pieces over plastic sculpting. I'll also take the cloth netting over molded detail. It makes it look so much more real to me. With the exception of the most recent trio of HT Predators, I also prefer the vast array of weapons and accessories I have accumulated from owning multiple HT Preds. Customizing them, and letting other figures borrow weapons is fun and convenient. Berzerker has had Guardians kombi-stick in his skull-holding hand since he got here.

I've seen the underside of a De-masked Neca Predator....it's not pretty. Nothing I would even want to try to mod....however...the unfinished head underneath the HOT TOYS Falconer (and hopefully Tracker) is pretty easy to complete and custom paint. That's another point I disagree with you on, after studying the Neca 'Zerker, and HT 'Zerker next to each other...the HT Pred definately wins in the paint department.

Necas have had more alien looking skin up untill now, I'll give them that...but now the joints on the new HT Preds look realistic, hidden, and the skin is amazingly sculpted. I was one of the most pissed off HT fans when I learned that the new Preds were loosing chest articulation, but due to the enhancement in detail...I don't even care anymore. Didn't mean to rant this much. Too each their own mate.

looks tight, and the price range for detail level is very compairable with hot toys. Amazingly detailed, somewhat limited articulaion and around 7'' scale for $15-20 vs Hot toy's ulimited articulation and extras and larger 12'' scale for between 130-300. Neca comes out champ in my eyes.

I'm pretty sure my Ht Preds are closer to 14'' than 12''.

Just wondering....how many Hot Toys Predators do you own?

Same question goes for you Sabretoothe...lol if you're still reading...cause it took me awhile to see ur reply...

Opt - you're obviously not a Predator fan if you think the HT versions are accurate and your statement "Ohhh Really? Hmmm...if Neca is sooo accurate...why did they lazily just stick a Gort bio-mask on a Predator 1 body? Doesn't look very accurate to me."

If you knew anything about the original Predator the Gort mask was his original mask for P1 and they decided not to use it on screen and it was recycled in P2 for the Guardian so in fact what NECA is doing is giving us an accurate Classic Predator with the original concept Gort mask and a new bloody skull and spine accessory.

Bottom line is I would rather spend my $160 on 10 different accurate NECA Predators then 1 inferior and not movie accurate Hoy Toys version

In reply to Optimatron's response, I don't own any Hot toys figures let alone predator. I loved the movies and most of the figures but never collected them or tried to hunt them down. Only figure I bought was an alien vs predator figure years ago, but that was it. I since took the alien off, removed the tail piece that was impailing Predator. I used the base for backdrop pics and I have the alien figure sitting up top my display case. I'm using the predator along with a MU wolverine figure to create a 3 3/4 predator, I just don't have the tools to finish him I need to buy a drill and dremel tool to finish it. Both are vital tools to do serious custom work on any toys, and will help my skill level, Once completed he may go in my personal collection or go up for auction. I want to start selling some of my custom works, the tricky part is letting go of pieces you spent hours making, and then getting a price worth letting it go for.

I had no idea the Hot toys were 14'', good scale, A lot of $$ though especially if you try to buy the 1st gen hot toys releases.. but for me if there's no other figures avail and I see a neca predator figure good chances I might buy it. I REALLY liked the movie maniacs versions Mcfarlane put out a while back, wasn't able to get them but did get Robocop, I opened it, had I not the thing goes for $40-60 on ebay. lol. I think a lot of us love Predator for the sheer awesomeness, the bad ass weapons, mask, outfit, it's just hard to capture the true level of detail we want without spending more, regretably a lot of us are comfortable at the $10-30 range/figure, when you start saying $100-300/ 1 toy, to me IMO its not an instant sell, It's not something I casually go into a store and buy without second thought. For me atleast all Hot toys are online only so I'd have to contact a comic shop or go online myself and lump out $200 + tax + shipping + exchange rate for me being in Canada. I love hot toys from what I see and hear other then the horrors on some quality control issues. I frankly would love to have every Iron man figure, whiplash, black widow, spiderman, thor, odin, blade, willow's daughter, wolverine, even the RAH Marvel figures are nice and the higher end marvel studio series that had blade,DD,wolverine. I've been looking at the $104.99 12 figures lots on BBTS and considering 1 or 2 of them over a hot toys iron man. If I had higher class play then I'd buy higher class items ,but because I don't have a high paid job, I buy lower end priced figures, wait for deals or toys to go on sale and buy what I need as to what I want.. and my gf doesn't understand so can't go overboard with spending.

Yada yada yada. I know very well that the Gort mask was to be the original mask, but guess what....it wasn't. I do happen to have every single Predator and AVP movie there is on blu ray btw. But I'm sorry, Gort didn't actually show up untill the end of Predator 2, and he sure wasn't wearing the original pred armor+gort mask....he was wearing armor just like City Hunter. So you wanna talk about accuracy? If they're gonna call him Gort Predator, they need to make the Gort Predator. I don't give a shit what was gonna be, I go by what was.

As far as Neca's "accuracy"...I say that's bullshit. I look at their sculpts and I don't see where they are so much more accurate than Hot Toys. Bottom line HT may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for, and that's more detail, more accessories, and more articulation. I'll take that everyday all day over just a tiny bit more accuracy (bullshit) on a figure that looks like it was painted by a two year old, and has articulation that could only keep a toddler amused.

Yeah because no other company is allowed to make the same character that another company makes?

Glad you got the cheddar for an HT figure bub because this may be a pass for a snob like yourself but for the 6" - 7" collectors, this isn't a pass.

Yeah I have a Berserker Predator (Unmasked) who's leg broke... So I made him look even better than he did. I chipped his top left mandible, made his face all bloody (from where Royce was beating the s*** out of him, I made a bunch blood in his mouth, made his blade a with a lil bit of Predator blood from when he killed the classic predator, and I put a bunch of green on the far right side of his chest (that's supposed to be from where he was being stabbed by the criminal), and I made the gunshot wound. If anyone wants to see any pictures of him, please let me know how to post pictures and I'll put up some pictures for you guys.

OK, so the BD Berserker Predator isn't my only custom.... I had a BD Classic Predator but he didn't look too good. Now, I call him Clawed Predator. And here's what he looks like; I did that lil ''glitch'' where you remove the mask and I made some black scratches on it, put some green blood on it and then, of course, I made the red slash marks across the veil. I had this lil chain so I attached some Bionicle pieces on it (they look kinda like the Wolf's Proximity Bombs, that's why I included those). Next, I painted his cannon/backpack red and I made two, long slash marks on his armor. Finally, I made him COMPLETELY bloody. Sooooooo if you guys want to see any pictures of him, just let me know. But I still don't know how to post pictures....... Sorry

Greed II again and here are my last two custom Predators; So I started by switching out Unmasked City Hunter's head with Boar's head and switched out the bodies so now I have Boar's head and hands on the CH's body and CH's head/hands on Boar's body. So that's basically it, I know they don't sound much but I think they're pretty cool. Oh and I'm trying to come up with a name for each of these two but I got nothin... So if anyone has any ideas please let me know. And some in maybe July or August I'll have some Predator customs; Ghost Predator,Dark Predator from AVP 3, Unmasked Battle-Damaged Clawed Predator, Dragon Predator and Tiger Predator
