I thought the frontier movies were supposed to be similar to the series? I don't remember these in there. Any idea where I can watch them with English subs?

Well it's kind of like what studios have done with past series; OVA/movie versions being different takes on the same story. For example, the way Max and Millia meet, the way Kakizaki and Focker die in DYRL? is far different than the way it's portrayed in the TV series.

YF-29 is Alto's new bird in the 2nd movie, what it does, I don't know, but it seems like it may play a substantial role, as Tamashii was quick to develop a DX toy meanline Bandai Hobby quickly kicked out a 1/100 fighter mode only model, AND battroid/gerwalk models were not revealed until the publication of Figure King #157. Something tells me the battroid will kick all ass or something relevant with Bandai being so hush hush about revealing it until this week.

Thanks Shin! Dude that looks sick. Do you know where I can get more info about viewing the movies? If I remember correctly there was some issue with distribution to the US.

That's putting it lightly. I fear I don't have an exact spot (and of course I'm not Shin) but I'm pretty sure if you dig around a bit you can find the movies online.

Macross Frontier: The False Songstress (or The False Diva as it's sometimes called) is the first one. I don't think the second one (Macross Frontier: The Wings of Goodbye) has been released yet?

The original series of Macross Frontier is well worth watching if you can find it, too.

And yeah, that Valkyrie looks pretty awesome, though I might have preferred something that looks a little bit less like a VF-25 and a VF-27 had a baby that heavily favored the VF-27 side.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anyone has the license to release Frontier stateside. It may require Big West negotiating with Harmony Gold, and Big West does not want to do that. The BIG rumor, from 2008 IIRC, was that the Frontier TV series was going to be brought stateside with Toynami bringing over Tamashii's Macross Frontier and Origin of Valkyrie toys over stateside, with a Toynami sticker on the box(same thing Toynami did with Aoshima's Ride Armor figures for Mospeada). Unfortunately, plans fell through, and yet AGAIN, the fandom lost.

The plan was to not only bring over the Tamashii Macross toys, but to also introduce a line of 1/55 VF-1 toys, using the Tamashii molds but with all new head sculpts, in Robotech packaging. The only prototype shown was the VF-1D at SDCC.

Unfortunately, all that is left of Macross goods stateside(as in domestically released) are Toynami's 1/100 VF-1 toys and 1/100 vinyl Zentraedi mecha.

Now I don't know if Toynami is steal dealing with Tamashii, as Tamashii/Bandai Hobby's goods are now domestically distributed here by Bluefin. Will Bluefin be able to bring over Japanese Macross toys? Don't know, the last thing AFAIK that HG secured were the transforming Revoltech VF-1's by Kaiyodo, which received underwhelming reviews across the boards.

If you have a blu-ray player, you can order the blu-ray discs from Japan. It'll be sometime before movie 2 is on blu-ray however, as it premieres on the 26th.

BTW, latest scan by CYBERGUNDAM BLOG shows what may be, hints at FAST packs which may explain why this release will cost ¥17,850 yen.

I had the DX VF-25, and I sold it. It looks great, but it has way too much metal making it super heavy and fragile. I'll save my money for the VF-19 Blazer if it ever comes out.

Fragile? I never thought the DX 25's were fragile, I have a 25S and my complaints are that the joints got way too loose in a relatively short amount of time. Also the shoulder articulation and lack of thigh swivels. The design team knows that fans want them to take another stab at the DX VF-25, but I think the most realistic expectation is a DX VF-25 with parts from the DX YF-29, like thigh swivels and other improvements borrowed from the 29 and 27.

I guess I said fragile because I tried to get it into some cool poses and it felt like I was going to break it. I ran into the same problems with the joints, that's why I sold it. I need to get a YF-19, but they are so damn expensive, even without the fast Pack.

Just Changed my Mind. Turns out the YF-29 has build in Missile Bays, and a Melee weapon. Going to have to get it now.
