Kotobukiya’s Facebook Page has been updated with the newest Marvel Bishoujo Statue. Today we get our first good look at the Marvel Jean Grey Bishoujo Statue.
“A Kotobukiya Japanese import! The next beautiful lady in the Marvel Bishoujo collection (combining iconic superheroines and villains with traditional Japanese stylings) is sure to please a lot of fans. While you’ve seen her before as the Phoenix, the first female member of the X-Men is back in one of her most iconic uniforms, Jean Grey! First appearing in 1963’s X-Men #1, Jean was a young mutant sent to Xavier’s institute. There she honed her powers of telekinesis (and later telepathy) and became known as Marvel Girl, fighting the good fight alongside Cyclops, Angel, Beast, and Iceman. A steadfast member of the X-Men and X-Factor throughout the years, Jean would alternate between her normal identity and that of the Phoenix. Despite many character upheavals and several deaths, Jean has remained one of the most popular Marvel heroines of all time, and now she comes to you in the Japanese Bishoujo (pretty girl) style based on an original character reinterpretation of her X-Men Vol. 2 #1 look by illustrator Shunya Yamashita.
Jean Grey explodes into action, hovering in the air and using her formidable mental powers to take on the enemies of mutants! Her flying pose looks amazing, with the heroine leaning back on one straight leg and one bent, skillfully propped up by her base. With one hand at her head to help focus her powers, Jean points the other directly at her foes with a sultry gesture. The X-Man’s unique costume is perfectly reproduced from the sexy skin-tight suit to the added details of her pouches, belt, gauntlets, and shoulder pads. Even better, the suit is resplendent in gold and metallic blue with accents in brown and red. Jean’s Bishoujo-styled face is cute and yet determined at the same time, framed by her costume’s headpiece and her fantastic red hair that even utilizes translucent materials! To top it all off, you can display Ms. Grey with or without detachable “Psychic Force” effects parts.
Jean Grey stands nearly 8 ½ inches tall (in the current Marvel Bishoujo 1/7th scale) atop an exclusive georama base – a massive smoke cloud from which bursts the X-Jet and a trio of missiles! Jean is the perfect addition to your Marvel Bishoujo collection, and an excellent companion to the Phoenix statues.
Available July 2011.“

Marvel vs Capcom 3 Minimates Accidentally Revealed
Well, now we know why the announcement was kinda out of left field.

But on the bright side, I might try to collect this entire run. I know there are quite a few I want to pick up already, just based on the pics so far.
I just don't know where I'm going to put them all once I get them.
They all look great! I'm so happy they included Ghost N' Goblins' Arthur in the lineup!
Zero, Dante, X-23, Amaterasu, and others all look well worth getting. Can't wait!
Fuck yea, ZERO FTW! Hopefully this means X is on the way eventually.
I'm not a fan of minimates, but these really don't look bad at all.
I never thought I'd ever see a Zero minimate, so this is super awesome!!!
heres a bunch of pictures of the protos from toyfare

Aside from a distinct lack of Shuma-Gorath (hey, they've done weirder things for Ghostbusters), these look pretty good. I just want to see what the packaging duos/box sets are.
All this does is make me want a line of MvC3 Marvel Universe figures.
I am waiting for some Hsien Ko...
With so many toy lines doing figures around the 4" height it seems like something that would be popular with collectors and something that would be popular with kids since they could add the characters to the other toys they have in that scale.

So that's the closest we'll get.

man,no Doom?
Seeing as how the plan is for figures of the same size class anyway from jazwares, they'd be in direct competition, so odds are extremely slim it'd happen at the same time.
Toybiz was able to do it, because stateside no one had the SF rights, and bandai US(?) Megaman's rights only extended to the tv show not the classic era game characters. It's only a slight difference, but with licensing that slight difference of tv and game libraries can make all the difference.

It would be cool, but not very likely from the Hasbro end. Although with 4" becoming so popular there might be some remote chance of the owners wanting to cash in on that market somehow, just not with Hasbro.
