Star Wars Silicon Mold Trays From Kotobukiya

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 7:01 am by Joe Moore under Star Wars Toy News

Kotobukiya’s Facebook Page has been updated with the first look at some unexpected Star Wars item. They are releasing Star Wars R2-D2 and Han Solo Frozen In Carbonite Silicon Mold Trays.

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! After the amazing success of the Jedi and Sith Lightsaber Chopsticks, Kotobukiya is excited to announce another innovative Star Wars kitchen product line coming to you from a galaxy far, far away. This time around the fun gets frosty with the Han Solo in Carbonite Silicon Tray And R2-D2 Silicon Tray! Perfect for everything from family fun to Star Wars themed parties, these handy trays let you capture ice, chocolate, jelly, or anything else you can think of in the familiar shape of Jabba the Hutt’s prized possession or everyone’s favorite astromech droid. Accurately replicating the look of Han’s imprisonment and R2-D2 from the films, the sturdy silicon is both heat and ice resistant making it almost as durable as real carbonite! Han’s tray has molds for one large and six small Carbonite blocks, while R2’s has one large and four small. Both come packaged in a poly vinyl bag with unique art. Han Solo in Carbonite and R2-D2 are the perfect complements to the Lightsaber Chopsticks! And we’re not finished; expect more character kitchenware from Kotobukiya soon.

Available July 2011.

^Wow, really? Someone should share pics! I can't wait to see the actual figures. If the SF ones turn out to be even just half as good as the Marvel Universe figures, then I'm sold. Perfect chance to recreate a Marvel VS. Capcom lineup!

As for MK, I'm very excited! Hope we see the actual figs soon!

I did some questioning the other day and from what I was told by a rep @ the Jazwares area, they have the rights from the WHOLE Street Fighter series INCLUDING Street Fighter (part 1).

You're gonna love this series. They did have prototype "rough sculpts" at the show but they didn't let me take pictures and they look amazing. From the characters they had, there was Sagat, Bison, Vega, Akuma, Chun Li, and... someone who I can't remember at the moment. I can tell you that even though the series is in 3.75" or 1:18 scale, they are all different sizes in relation to each other. In other words Sagat was REALLY tall and big compared to Bison and Chun Li was the shortest one there. I have high hopes for this series.

I wish they more for Mortal Kombat but at least they're starting with the ninjas.

I'm glad that the figures look good and that scale was taken into account! Scale is the main reason that turns me off from Jakks' UFC/TNA figures because everyone is the damn same height and/or size!

ITCHING for a good Sagat figure in this scale. For SFIV figures there are only 2 ways to turn now, Jazwares for small scale, Play Arts Kai for big scale. Hoping both turn out well!

The last Mortal Kombat 6" figures by Jazwares were FAR better than their initial 6" Street Fighter figures. The new lines have a lot of potential. Lin Kuei Cyber Ninjas? WANT! Hope we see a Smoke/Noob Saibot 2 pack from the later games(though I wonder how these 2 will play out in the new game since it's going to change everything being that it goes back in time to stop the events of later games....and Noob Saibot was the 1st Sub Zero).

You guys do realize that in this scale, we can now have....

    MARVEL VS CAPCOM FIGHTS!

Yep if these figures turn out well I will gladly have them displayed fighting my Marvel characters! BTW folks MVC3 is out today!

Don't really want 3.75" scale SF figures, wish they were going with 6" there.

Very much looking forward to the 6" MK figures though!

That's great news! Scale is one of my deciding factors when going into a certain toyline. I can't wait to see the actual figs, specially Sagat. SOTA Sagat is still one of my favorite figures because of the great scale, sculpt, and articulation. I hope this Jazwares version can do it for me in the 3.75 scale.

Fuzzy, with Marvel Universe we can do MVC battles, with figures! Hope the Street Fighter and MK figures turn out well.

I am a BIG fan of the Mortal Kombat storylines from the later games, so I'm definitely looking forward to the figures.

    Excited? Hell yea!

Mortal Kombat vs GI Joe, Street Fighter vs Marvel Universe, oh there is all sort of potential cool from doing the lines in this scale.

The only two worries I have are how the figures will actually look and how hard they might be to get. But until there is something to dash my hopes I remain optimistic about it. And slightly confused about where I'll add more shelf space with so many cool things coming out in the scale that I collect.

I have noticed that with wrestling figures, it's a shame.

So true, we can have MvC fights! That's gonna fun.
