Hey all, just found the latest wave of the Marvel Universe comic packs, Greatest Battles, today at TRU. This wave includes Sentry/Spider-Man, Captain America/Wolverine, and Iron Man/Thor.

The Sentry pack is my favorite since it is the only one that gives us a new character. The Captain America figure is nice because the scales on his outfit have a metallic sheen to them. I skipped the Iron Man/Thor pack because it gives us absolutely nothing new. The paint on each figure is only very slightly different. Only recommended for completists or anyone who missed them the first time around.

For anybody living in Miami, I found them at the Toys R Us by Miami International Mall, off of 107th Ave. They had plenty on the pegs. Probably between 5-8 of each comic pack.

Ludo, does Wolverine have the new head sculpt from Daken?

Negative. Not the Daken head. Looks like the same Wolvie head that they used on the first release (X-Force) and first comic pack, but I can't confirm that 100% since my MU figures are packed away at the moment. It's definitely not Daken, though. And not the tiger stripe head (the one that came in the black Hand Ninja 2-pack). I'll pull the figures out tomorrow to check.

nice find. is that a new head for spidey as well? is it just me or is his eyes look bigger than before? pressuming it's the original spidey mold.

$14.99. The Captain America is a slight improvement over the last comic pack version, but yeah, only Sentry is new.

Yup. New Spidey head. The eyes are indeed quite a bit bigger. I had to look at all of the sets they had to get the best paint apps. Some of them were a little off. Nowhere near the disaster of the first few comic packs, but still check them out to get the best one.

that's pretty disappointing. i've always thought that wolvie head was off.

another question. is the cap the same as the previous comic pack release or is the blue now darker?

The blue is different, not as "neon" looking. I'll take some comparison pics and post them later today so you can see the difference. I didn't really like the colors on the original comic pack release. This one is better. It should hold us over until the Cap movie/comic line comes out.

    QUESTION:

I am concerned on The Sentry's paint app. Does his lips look "lipstick-ish?"

Also, What about the hair? Does it sit well? (or look proper?)

i agree. the original was way too bright. i was hoping the blues and reds would be deeper on the new comic packs. closer to the ultimate cap. comparison pics will be appreciated!

Got my Sentry/Spiderman, pretty much just for The Sentry. The spiderman is pretty much a repaint of the black costume from the earlier comic pack but they eyes have better detail and look a little different. The actual costume paint is brilliant though, easily the best Spidey I own and a marked improvement oer the first wave release. Sentry does have a pretty gnarly lipstick look though, which is a downside. If I were to bust it out of the pack i'd consider applying a neutral flesh tone over the lips to make it look less like it's pouting!

Yes, the Sentry does kind of look like he's wearing some sort of lipstick. Not sure why they chose such a dark tone for his lips. They shouldn't have even applied any paint in that area, really.

    The hair looks fine, though.

I just grabbed a Sentry/Spider-Man pack. The Sentry's lips ARE pretty bad. I think I might try and paint the lips a flesh color or something.

Picked up one yesterday and the lips aren't as bad on mine as in the pictures. They have a more brownish skin tone to them.

Thank you so much for those pics; I seriously hate both CP Wolvie's headsculpt and was wondering if I could do some headswaping with either Daken or the Target Tiger Stripe one... guess not. LOL. Or maybe I can... the yellow is not that far off actually. Either way, I'll probably just stick the unmasked Jim Lee variant head on the CP Wolvie and use the Target Tiger Stripe Wolverine as my default. Great comparison pics of Cap too.

so this new cap have a blue light and hologram color, and also in his shield there's a mark of wolvie claw...nice but still not a new for me.
for wolvie, i think all 3 wolvie head is just the same and repaint only..so just take sentry and will sell the spidey figures...
