Tamashii Nations X Studio Half Eye Escaflowne

Posted on October 1, 2010 at 12:08 am by Shin Densetsu under Robot and Mecha Toy News

Another surprise reveal from Tamashii Nation 2010 was the unveiling of the Guymulef Escaflowne by Tamashii Nations X Studio Half Eye! Akiba Hobby was on hand to snap photos at the display. Both companies are no stranger to Escaflowne, Bandai having made some plamo kits, and a PVC figure in the early 2000’s, while Studio Half Eye made a transforming resin kit years prior.

Could this be a transforming diecast figure, made for mass production? Stay tuned for more information, meanwhile, hit the title bar to check out the new Guymulef Escaflowne!

i remember yamato's early effort at a transforming guymulef. to call it tragic would be a gross understatement. be interesting to see how this one develops. also curious to see what the ticket will be. studio half eye stuff is always 'spensive!

Crossing fingers that it's a mass produced item by Bandai with engineering/design by SHE. That way it's affordable yet brilliant(toy-wise). Plus it's about time we got a new Esca!

Escaflowne! Excellent, been waiting for a decent one of these, and this one looks fantastic! Here's hoping it's fairly priced!

man, i would LOVE for it to be completely awesome. by "completely awesome" i mean affordable with a fantastic non-fidgety transformation.

Let's hope. Bandai typically has great QC for their SOC releases, and SHE's engineering/design is unquestionably brilliant.

Did this ever come out? I've seen one transforming escaflowne toy but it looks awful. Just decided I'd like one of these when I get the money, hope it's out or still coming out and looks every bit as good as the pics and that the one I've seen isn't it.

Unfortunately no. Tamashii/SHE have not stated that it's canceled, however, it's become typical of Bandai(Tamashii) in the last few years, to show off prototypes of stuff that either takes forever to come out or just isn't made.

It really sucks for us, and me especially, because I LOVE Escaflowne and will not settle for the old toy by Yamato/Billy Wong. That thing is terribly outdated and honestly, I'm surprised we haven't even seen an SRC Escaflowne.

That's so unfair. I love Escaflowne and have always wanted a good physical representation of it, to hear that it's not out yet saddens me. Would seriously love to have had this bad boy perched atop my monitor in dragon mode, would look epic.

The sad thing is, the event where it was shown was the first and last time it was ever shown.

I'd like to think that it has not been canceled, just on the backburner. I know it would be expensive but it would also be awesome.

On a side note, are there any other mechanized/robotic dragons in toy form anyone can show me pics of, tell me about and/or link me to? Also interested in mecha/robo beasts of all varieties, extra points for Lions, Wolves and Phoenixes.

Guess this was a bad place to ask anyways.

You may want to look into Zoids.

To be honest the robotic animals you speak of are easier to find in Transformers than any other toyline. There are some anime mecha but you probably already know about them, like Dancougar, et al.
