DC Action League – Mattel Fri Update @ SDCC

Posted on July 23, 2010 at 4:51 pm by Tony_Bacala under DC Toy News, San Diego Comic Con

Check out the new Super Hero Squad – like line from Mattel and DC – Action League (I think). Pics of new figs inside.

These figures are a continuation of what Mattel and DC started with the Batman Brave & The Bold line earlier this year. Both lines are compatible, and this time, the line opens up beyond the Brave & The Bold cast to the rest of the DC Universe.

I definitely want the Joker. They all look pretty cool, though. I actually like these better than the Brave and the Bold SD figures.

I was stunned by how much I liked these.

I definitely want all of the Lantern ones. Especially Atrocitus and White Lantern Sinestro.

I know theses things aren't supposed to be as cute-ified as the Super Hero Squad, but I just picker up some of those DC Imaginext singles on clearance, Mr. Freeze is awesome, and they made the Joker look way too silly.

But here with the crazy proportions and such he looks crazily insane, his face is pretty scary.

I would have to paint the gloves green if I got it.

Maybe I can be patient and wait until they go on clearance like the Brave and Bold minis at Target.

I don't even read/collect green latern stuff but for some reason they all call to me, I think it's the uniforms and the huge rings look great, I like that they aren't super tiny, hopefully they will release Kilowog and Arisia.

    Yes it's for obvious reasons.

Imaginext looks great, seems like it has a ton of playability.

The OA imaginext set looked pretty rad. Never really considered those things before but I might have to get that one!

Everytime I pass by the Batcave...I keep thinking...man..this is a damn well made playset...so much interaction with the other figures and vehicles!

Hell I think DC Imaginext is a better line than DC Infinite Heroes.

I did think that Mr Freeze's helmet came off, but he is great even with out the feature his ice gun is very detailed and ever has a "frost" effect. I got the Penguin for my gf, she loves Penguins.

I have given the Penguin the I guess Riddle staff that comes with the single pack Batman for some reason.

    That one is good too.

I never liked Infinite Heroes. I don't care for the Justice League style figures either. Just the DCUC, and now I kinda like these little cute ones too. Anything that is somewhat SD style I kind of always dig.

I also like how Imaginext actually had articulation and the figures are sculpted in neutral poses. This is completely different from SHS where not all of the figures have articulation and all the figures are pre-posed. Cool for those who dig them, but articulation has always been important for me.

The fact that there are plenty of vehicles and a lot of interaction integrated with all the toys is neat. They aren't too expensive either.
