I'm not familiar with this figure at all, but if the figure is as good as that image posted, it's going to be awesome.

Super old news. That was in one of he-man.orgs WTFWTK questioneers
    LAST year.

There was some confusion regarding last year's announcement, as some thought he was the May 2010 figure (which was Optikk). In the March 2010 Q&A it was mentioned that he would be the May 2011 figure and reconfirmed last month in the above link (hence the FP story).

To be fair, it's highly unusual for any toy company to announce any specific figures that far out in the release schedule. So I can definitely see why people would think Matty meant 2010 in last year's announcement and the confusion about Optikk taking the May slot.

    Gotcha.

Did anyone else catch this question?

    1) In 2008 and in all 2009 we had the first action figures in theMOTUC Brand. In 2010 we had the first creatures, accessories and giantfigures. It seems each year, Mattel is going farther into the brand byadding new and different items. My question is, in 2011, will we havethe first playsets and/or vehicles?

Stay tuned for SDCC and you just might find out!

That's really promising! They've continually said "vehicles and playsets are not an option at this time" or "we can't afford the tooling unless this line goes to retail". In another question, someone asked about a Build-A-Castle Grayskull and the answer was "We’d rather just do the whole Castle to be honest. Maybe in a movie year…"

There may be some really big news coming at SDCC!

Do we do a Mattel Q/A?

I think vehicles would be the next logical step for expanding the line (although Battle Cat and Panthor are technically vehicles). In fact, I'd like to see more of the smaller-scale toys come out before they get into the larger vehicles and playsets. Stridor, Night Stalker, Roton, Wind Raider and Battle Ram would be a good start and could definitely use the update.

If those all sold well, then they could move on to larger things like Attak Trak, Land Shark, Talon Fighter/Point Dread, Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain.

Only a couple of weeks away and we'll see what figures, and other such goodies, they will be offering. Who wants to take bets to see what's the new thing, either vehicle or playset, that they will come out with?

Have there not been questions since March? That's the last post in that thread. I have TONS of things I'd like to ask.

I say Attack Trak or Eternia?

Wind Raider was the first actual vehicle, so I'd say that. It's small.

They could do both and announce Castle Grayskull AND Point Dread w/Talon Fighter. And both could be stand-alone pieces, but have connection points to interact similar to the original releases.

I would think an Eternia Playset would be far too large to do these days. But if they broke it up into smaller playsets and gave them connection points, it would be awesome. Then everyone could build their own Eternia.

They might even get an Etheria redeco out of it.

Actually, the Battle Ram was the first MOTU vehicle. The Wind Raider came shortly after. Of course, It would be pretty cool to see either one redone with modern toy tech.

I was going by what I remember and what He-Man.org says. BR gets official credit, though I think you're right that the Wind Raider was released around the same time.

I used to own a Wind Raider myself, until the wings inexplicably disappeared and the anchor string broke. I lost track of it after that.
