Icon Heroes has announced plans to produce a new series of static (non-articulated) action figures, basically statues, based on the original Thundercats cartoon. Included will be characters, vehicles and environments.
WARNER BROS. CONSUMER PRODUCTS AND ICON HEROES GO ON THE PROWL WITH LICENSING AGREEMENT FOR THUNDERCATS
BURBANK, Calif., – May 14, 2010 – Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) announced today a partnership with leading collectibles manufacturer, Icon Heroes, to create products inspired by the classic animated series, Thundercats. This all-new line features prominent characters and environments from the beloved 1980’s animated television hit.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Icon Heroes will manufacture 6-inch and under scale statues, vehicle replicas, environments and dioramas all inspired by Thundercats. The statues will be branded as “Staction Figures” (Static Action Figures) and will be non-articulated standing atop a highly detailed environment base.
Each Staction Figure is scaled such that they can be displayed individually or alongside other 6-inch action figures and statues. The first Staction Figures scheduled for release are Lion-O, Jackal Man, and Jaga. Other products to be released include the Thunderclaw, Cat’s Lair, and many more.
“Thundercats is a classic cartoon property and Icon Heroes is the ideal partner to deliver an array of offerings befitting of these beloved characters,” said Karen McTier, Executive Vice President of Domestic Licensing and Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “Fans of the series will be thrilled to see not only the products available, but the painstaking detail with which they are created.”
“Icon Heroes is all about bringing popular characters to life and we very excited to be recreating some of our favorite 1980’s animated heroes,” added Patrick Wang, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Icon Heroes. “It is wonderful to be able to work with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and we can’t wait to offer fans our exciting and vast collection of Thundercats product lines.”

Thundercats 6" staction figures and more coming soon...
Icon Heroes
>static
>action figures
Pick one.
they're INaction figures! /clerks
staction...why even bother :/
If these come out as good as the MOTU staction figures then hellz yea. Those were awesome.
Ironically, the only Thundercats toys I ever had as a kid were the 3" PVC figures which also had no articulation. This is not progress.
And WTF is the point of making vehicles if the figures can't be placed in/on them? These things better be insanely well sculpted.
If these things do well, maybe we could get a 4 inch line that moves!
It's unfourtunate.
I do not collect statues unless it's of great importance.
I just think that this license is a missed oportunity to get some super articulated 6" and 3 3/4" action figures.
I like to look at this as a start for things to come. I mean who's to say they wont eventually come with action figures. I'd rather have staction figures than no figures at all right now. Let them test the waters and see where the fan base is.
There's a new cartoon in the works, so I'm sure we'll get figures for it.

I so wish we had T'Cats in 1:18 with good articulation.
Staction Figures don't mean that's all we'll get.
Let's look at he-man for a sec on this.
2k line of figures... Eventually flopped, but it gave way to Staction figures, that sold pretty well, especially hordak...
And we know what that led to.
MOTUC.
If these items do well, we'll be getting other classic inspired lines to come.
Besides, by the end of the year, I doubt this will be the last of what we'll see. They seem pretty explicit to tell us this will be the original thundercats, which so far are the only thundercats that exist, so why would that have to be clarified?
Besides the rumored Josie and the Thundercats toon that is...
lets see some articulated modern figures like the marvel universe style figures those would sell like crazy!!!
no articulation means no purchase as far as I'm concerned. Real shame too, I'd really be into a thundercats line that was 6 inch or 3 3/4 inch
>action figures
Pick one.
That's how the company lists them in the article "static action figures"
so I won't pick one
Glad to see Thundercats getting some long-awaited attention, but as far as I'm concerned, there are statues and there are action figures...no middle-ground. It's one or the other.
I'll wait until we see photos to form a full opinion. I may change my mind, but right now, just the term "staction figure" tells me these are a pass for this TC fan. I'm all about articulation.
I do hope that this leads to quality 6 inch, fully articulated ACTION figures. And I'm actually hoping Mattel can get the rights to make them. And I never dreamed I would say that....
