Masters of the Universe Classics Battle Cat in Package Shots

Posted on December 3, 2009 at 6:20 pm by TM2 D-bot under Masters Of The Universe Toy News

Mattycollector has recently posted new images and information on the upcoming Masters of the Universe Classics Battle Cat. We now get in package images as well as his bio. From the site:

MOTU Fans!

You’ve been patiently (and for some, impatiently) waiting for the Fighting Tiger of Eternia® to arrive. While you’ll still have to wait just a little bit longer, here’s your first official sneak peak at the packaging for Battle Cat®!

Battle Cat® is the first beast figure in the MOTU line. This fully-articulated, incredibly detailed figure has been crafted so He-Man® fits in the saddle (as will most other MOTU characters) so he can securely ride his iconic green feline into battle! He comes with removable armor and helmet, his saddle holds the Sword of Power, and it’s all packed safely in a window box package.

This cool kitty goes on sale Monday, February 15th, and as always MattyCollector.com is the only place you’ll find guaranteed genuine Masters of the Universe® figures. We can send a reminder right to your inbox, so click here to register for email. I also announce reminders on Twitter so follow me there, too!

Battle Cat’s bio reads as follows (courtesy of MegaGearMax @ He-Man.org) :

A member of the Green Tiger Tribe, Cringer was saved from a ___________ attack by a young Prince Adam and afterwards became his devoted companion for life. He assisted Adam during his quest to unite both halves of the Power Sword of He and afterwards was enhanced by it’s power to become Battle Cat the fighting tiger of He-Man. Cringer is one of only a handful of allies who knows Adam’s secret and fights alongside the other Masters of the Universe, carrying He-Man into battle against the forces of evil.

Battlecat is so spectacularly-outstandingly-amazingly-phenomanaly-AWESOME that I think I just wet myself a little! and the strap on the side to hold the sword is a nice touch too...

You know, as much as I want to say how awesome this is, he still looks like a brick to me, I mean I don't except him to have tons of poseability, and there does seem like he will have some, but I dunno, just screams brick.

So far, I'm quite impressed. I'm also curious about the mass release vs. web exclusive issue, especially if it means He-Man gets rereleased as a co-sell.

Couldn't possibly be worse than the original BC. Besides, looks like the front paws are on ball joints and every other joint on the leg has a swing joint.

I wonder what the neck and shoulder articulation are like. I'm hoping he had a side-to-side for his front legs, since cats don't normall swipe at you with an up-down motion. It's usually in the form of a right hook (or left, if your cat's a southpaw).

Battle Cat will be a definite purchase for me as I'll have the opportunity later in the year to pick up a re-issue He-Man figure to accompany it. WIN!

It looks like we will get to see Battle Cat soon!

    Here's an update from MattyCollector:
We also got early samples of Battle Cat in package in. Have a bit of an issue that his mask is falling off in package. We're doing everything we can to fix this before the full production is finished. He'll come in a box with a blister back (similar to the original toy) so worst case is the box can be opened without damage to slide the mask back on. But we'll do all we can to avoid this!

As soon as we have a better sample we'll post it for all to see.

Ill be honest I never liked these retro style figures they just look pretty lame compared to the masters of the universe horsemen figures that were from the new show so much more detail...honestly these re-hatches are just boring simple and blocky...

Feel free to like what you like, but there is a huge market for these with people who had the originals as kids, like myself

the original line will allways be the greatest in my eyes,I loved the 80's mini-comics and box-art and the classics figs are fantastic superposeable 3d renditions of the designs of that era.
and now we see in-package pics of battlecat and he is... BREATHTAKING!
