Diamond Select Toys Iron Man 2 Teaser Reveals War Machine

Posted on November 16, 2009 at 1:19 am by Shin Densetsu under Marvel Toy News

Diamond Select Toys has updated their site with more information pertaining to their upcoming Iron Man 2 figure! We’ve only seen the head sculpt of the Iron Man armor before but the new image provided by Diamond shows the base that will come with this figure, as well as the silhouettes of both Iron Man & War Machine! Here’s what Diamond has to say:

The biggest Super Hero movie of 2010 is fast approaching and will thrill fans with high-tech armor, covert government operations, one supremely angry Russian and, we are excited to announce, Diamond Select Toys! Maryland based Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles, LLC has secured a license from Marvel Entertainment to produce collectible action figures and Minimates based on the summer’s surefire blockbuster hit, Marvel’s Iron Man 2!

Diamond Select Toys will bring the Iron Man 2 property to their most successful toy lines, recruiting top industry talent including Gentle Giant for the seven-inch collector-driven Marvel Select action figure line and design-house Art Asylum for the unstoppable Marvel Minimates series of two-inch articulated block figures. Both lines will see releases beginning in March of 2010 and continuing through the summer convention season, including exclusive partnerships with national toy retailer Toys “R” Us and online powerhouse Action Figure Xpress.com.

“After Marvel’s Iron Man 2008 feature film increased the global awareness of this powerful brand and our continued success with both the Marvel Select and Marvel Minimates lines, securing the rights to Iron Man 2 toys was a very easy decision for us,” commented Diamond Select Toys Director, Chuck Terceira. “We’re all huge fans of the first Iron Man film and we’re very much looking forward to highlighting both the comic and movie characters from the Iron Man universe over the next year.”

Hot on the heels of the $585-million-generating Iron Man film, the action-packed sequel will hit theaters on May 7th of 2010 and catches up with Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark six months after the events of his big-screen debut. Iron Man 2 also stars Mickey Rourke as the devilish Whiplash, Scarlett Johansson as the seductive and deadly Black Widow, Don Cheadle’s War Machine debut and Samuel L Jackson, reprising his role as the world’s number one spy, Nick Fury.

Can't wait to see the full pics of War Machine. He'll probably be the only figure I get from this line.

Maybe we'll see a WM release in MU next year as well.

I'm very curious about these figures I hope that their articulation and sculpts are up to par plus I hope their not priced too high if so Ill just stick with the hasbro lines. really wanna see the warmachine figures.

This looks like a very good likeness of Cheadle, much like the other likeness of RDJ was great as well. I can't wait for these!

I'm impressed with the likeness Cheadle. Either they got someone super talented to do these or what we actually have is a laser scanned image of the actors because RDJ's is just as good.

My guess is they got laser scanned faces, but it really doesn't matter.

Hopefully the rest of the figure is just as good, including paint applications and articulation.

If that's the case I may actually buy the Diamond select line and skip Hot Toys because of the price.

Now what would REALLY get me excited is seeing Hot Toys make some 1/20 scale figures like the Appleseed line. Amazing detail for the size and they don't break the bank.

I knew he was Warmachine as soon as he almost got in the Mark II suit.

And of course the comic book origin had nothing to do with it

Wonder if the articulation will be the DST standardized style with ball jointed elbows, hips, shoulders, and knees.

Well I found that out after, I didn't really think Iron-Man was cool until after I saw the movie and bought Ultimates V1 and after that I looked up WarMachine's backstory, so I'm satisfied with myself.
