Avatar Toys Released At Retail

Posted on October 3, 2009 at 12:45 am by Shin Densetsu under General Toy News

The toyline for the James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar movie has been released at retail! Mattel has made something for everyone with this line, as it has 6″ figures similar to their Movie Master figures(such as DC and Ghostbusters), as well as figures and vehicles in the popular 3-3/4″ scale, with more to come.

Toyark boards member topnotch97 posted his initial sighting and pics at sister site HISS Tank. Numerous members have also reported their sightings, nearly all of them from Toys ‘R’ Us. Click on the title bar to see more images!

That AMP Suit can fit most 3 3/4" figs, huh? SWEET! I was at TRU today, and did not see these there, might have to pick up one of those for my 'Joes

Some members found theirs near the Joe section, I found them near the Sonic the Hedgehog/Gormiti/Naruto/Pokemon/Digimon section.

Mattel's RDA figures for Avatar are 3-3/4" scale but are smaller than Joes significantly, so the vehicles might not able to hold Joes inside. I'm crossing my fingers.

Yeah, kind of a no-interest thing for me too.

There are definitely some BIG compatibility issues with the gunship (witch makes me a sad panda) but I've gotten figures into the AMP suit and it looks like the grinder will fit anyone.

Might pick up some of the blue aliens for Maltusian kit bashes, but short of that, I don't really have much interest here. May change my mind when I see the vehicles upclose if they fit my needs for my new MU Inhumanoids customs.

I want to see the vehicles and Mech suit in person. I really want that mech.

Me too, I'll wait and see how compatible they are before I buy one.

After relooking at the toys, I might pick up the wheelchair one.

But only if it looks like it's compatible to joes. So I can find a business suit figure, and give him the serpentor head for a professor X.

Hey guys I hope that I post this here in the right section... o_o
    Maybe you can help me
Well, my question is... does the G.I. Joe figures fit in those new vehicles?
    Like this RDA Grinder here...

I saw them in Target today & not too impressed. I picked up the female pilot but the soldiers in the line are about the size of Joes (maybe a little smaller) but look like they need to put on some weight & hit the gym - they looked a little scrawny.

Yay! A few weeks ago I got my AMP suit through the internet (so I ask Mattel Toys, wether the Avatar toys will be released in germany or not, and they said me I should import them, because they won´t be released here... =( )
But now I have a question and I don´t want to open a new thread for this:
Maybe some of you have the AMP Suit, too.
Are the shoulders at yours really loose? On my version the shoulders can wiggle around and this distrubs me a lot!
    Thanks for answering =)

I finally broke down and got Jake and a Leonopteryx, got to admit that I'm not that impressed. As a TF collector I've come to expect more than 3 points of articulation out of an almost $30 toy. Not much for poseablity, but they display well; I'll probably pick up Tsu'Tey and a Direhorse for him to ride along with Neytiri and a Thanator to complete the display and that's about it.

I'm considering buying one of those AMP suits for my 3-3/4 Marvel figs. Anyone know if they can fit in there?
