Possible New Marvel Legends

Posted on June 22, 2009 at 7:39 pm by Joe Moore under Marvel Toy News

Over at sirsteveguide.com (story Here), user Beast shows what may be the newest Marvel Legends figures to be revealed. Apparently from this past weekends Wizard World Philly, Hasbro showed off a slideshow and revealed some great new info.

“Marvel Legends returns in 2010. There will be a big reveal of 16-18 figures in SDCC. Mostly they will be offered in 2-Packs. No more BAFs. And there will be no ML exclusives next year. The good news? They showed 3 of the figures today at Wizard World Philly.

Warpath (X-Force)

Multiple Man

Lady Bullseye

Expect Deadpool and a new Inhuman to go with Black Bolt to be 2 of them.

There’s also a fan poll coming up. The top 3 will get made, in 3 different 2-Packs with Hasbro choosing the other figure that will accompany them. They will probably come out around this time next year.

Speaking of polls, they still have plans to eventually get to some of those X-Men figures from the Wizard poll a while back. But they want to do some retooling on them first. So that’s further good news.“

With SDCC right around the corner many of us are anticipating the announcement of what will be happening with the future of Marvel Legends. There certainly has been a lot of speculation and desire to see certain figures, but no official word has been released yet.

Well, I found some interesting info about some upcoming ML figures. sirstevesguide.com user Beast has posted some pics of what is supposedly three of the upcoming figures that were shown at Wizard World Philly. They are: Warpath, Multiple Man and Lady Bullseye. He also mentions that a new Deadpool figure and an unnamed Inhuman will also be produced.

Furthermore, he talks about how all future ML figures will be offered as 2-Packs and Hasbro's plan to introduce another fan poll for which figures will get produced in the future. They will reveal 16-18 figures at SDCC and fans will choose which three get made while Hasbro picks the accompanying figure.

Has anybody else heard anything about this? What do you think of the pics? Official? Well-Made Customs? Sounds pretty legit to me, but you never know. Did anyone attend WWP? Guess we'll have to wait for SDCC to find out for sure.

Click on the link to read more, its a pretty lengthy thread with lots of posts but some very interesting information. The info I'm referring to was posted on 6/20 and 6/21/09:

Yup it is the same Beast. This info and pics was posted by El Diablo V2 at the Fwoosh boards. He was at Wizard World Philly when this was announced.

Multiple Man?! I'll take 30!! And a new Deadpool would be nice.. I'd love to have one in this scale that I didn't have to pay $80 for. Let's hope Warpath is made into a 3.75" figure soon too.

I want that Lady Bullseye... the white on her costume will hide the stains very nicely...

    ... what?

If these are the same scale as the Marvel Universe line, then cancel my enthusiasm. if they whack about $2-$3 off the going price for Marvel U, they MIGHT have my business.

These are the 6" Marvel Legends. No word yet on the new assortment of 3.75" Marvel Universe.

I do like how some new characters from newer books are being made, however I hope this time around, that Hasbro has taken the constructive criticism that has been given to them into account. I think we can all agree that double jointed knees are preferable to ball jointed knees, unless it is for a big figure. The elbros were almost never popular.

I do like Hasbro's attention to sculpt and silhouette, however I preferred Toybiz's articulation and attention to detail. The 2 packs that Hasbro started are off to a great start, if they continue in that direction(with regards to figure quality, as the figures in those packs are improvements), I'll be happy.

Sometimes Toy biz had too much articulation, and Hasbro, too little. The 2 packs bring a good balance, and I highly anticipate waves 2 and beyond. I hope fan favorites like New Captain America and a sized down version of the Icons Wolverine(ASX costume) are made.

No BAF? Cutting costs FTL. No more days of BAF Sentinel-sized figures.

Hasbro announced LAST YEAR that BAF's were done.

Wow this news is so anticlimatic compared to the MU news of Secret Wars comic packs, the new MU figures including Bucky Cap, Goliath, Giant Man coming down the pike. I'm glad that MLs is coming back but the two pack option just puts this below my must buy list of GI Joes, MUs, DCU Classics, Star Wars, Star Trek, DCU Crisis and now ML, probably when Target, Walmart or Meijers clearances them.

    And?

Still doesn't make it cool. It's just a way to "cut costs". Yet prices are still higher. I shouldn't be surprised, though, the whole Marvel Legends line started going down the hole when Hasbro got a hold of it.

Console yourself with the upcoming Gigantic Battles exclusives for your BAF-sized figure needs as those will probably be the only avenue for that scale we'll see for a while.

Doesn't really bother me, though. I guess since ML's didn't start off with BAF's, I've never considered them a permanent part of the series. Not to mention there were times where I'd buy a figure just for the BAF part. That's one reason I stopped collecting in that scale a while ago.

Which really only stopped it from going down hill under Toy Biz. Since it's now pretty much confirmed that two-packs are the way of ML future, how would they have kept BAF's?

yup Hasbro kinda tanked the Legends and esp. the BAFs, good to see exclusives are gone tho well see how long that lasts

They...could've kept single packs with a BAF part in them, like it's been for all of the Marvel run and before that? That's how.

I don't know....I always liked the old BAFs of Sentinel and Apocalypse, etc....I am just annoyed, that's all.

And that format was selling so well too. I mean it's not like it was selling so poorly that retailers didn't want to stock it and Hasbro had to cancel.... oh wait...

Yeah, I don't exactly see the two-packs flying off the shelves either....
