Kotobukiya have revealed built photos of their next model kit in the Super Robot Wars product line: The Personal Trooper ART-1 from the PS2 game Super Robot Wars: OGS.
The ART-1 is an update of the hero-mech R-1, and carries over many of the same design points, such as dual pistols and the ability to transform into a Zeta-Gundam-esque jet mode through parts-forming.
ART-1 includes several accessories including a combat knife, chainsaw gauntlets, boosted rifle, shield, dual revolvers, and a support base for displaying the figure in its transformed mode.
The 1/144 ART-1 model Kit is scheduled for release in July 2009, with a MSRP of 5,040 yen.
It's like R-1, but fancier. It'll still be a partsformer, but at this scale that's probably for the best to maintain some semblance of stability.
Plus it has chainsaw tonfas! Awesome!
Looks good.
ART-1 should be a sight better designed than the R-1, at least hopefully. The R1 was a bit rough around the edges, being one of Kotobukiya's earlier SRW model kits.
I hope they have some sort of inset plastic to do the white trim on the shield and such. I mean, Kotobukiya usually does for that kind of stuff, but they occasionally cheap out on the strangest things and leave them as solid colors.
