Gamu-Toys has reviewed Yamato‘s new 1/60 VF-1D toy from their Macross toy line up.
The cockpit has been changed to hold 2 figures, and is an all new mold. The minifigure of Minmay is sculpted with her knees up, and due to this, will rattle around the cockpit if placed in the front(pilot) seat. The reason for this is because the back seat has a higher sitting area than the front seat, without as much sitting room below, unlike the front seat. Perhaps if this wasn’t done, it would affect landing gear storage?
Like with previous releases, this VF-1 comes with 1 GU-11 gunpod, 4 UUM-7 micro missle pods, 4 AMM-1 missle clusters, adaptors for the stand, clips to mount the cockpit to other figures, TV hands, and regular hands.
This figure has an all new head sculpt, as well as new chest armor. Mobility of the head in battroid mode is good, just like the previous VF-1 releases.
It is also compatible with FAST packs.
As shown in the TV show, the cockpit can be detached, and attached to the arms of other VF-1 toys in any mode; fighter, gerwalk, and battroid.

Set for release in January 2009 is Yamato's 1/60 VF-1D Valkyrie. This is the first perfect transformation toy of the VF-1D, and has been in demand for quite some time. This long awaited valkyrie includes figures of Hikaru Ichijou & Lynn Minmay. With the removable cockpit feature of the new 1/60 toy line, the scenes were Roy rescues both Hikaru and Minmay by detaching the VF-1D cockpit and mounting it under his VF-1S' forearm are able to be recreated. This is also the very first time any valkyrie toy has been able to pull this off.
