CM’s Corp have announced an alternate version of their Brave Gokin 21 Combat Calibur figure (better known in the US as the design the original “Roadbuster” transformer was based off of); a green variant from the same show – “Special Armored Batallion Dorvack“.
This version of the Combat Calibur will have a remolded head and alternate weaponry, as well as a new pilot figure. It will not have the added body armor of the first release Calibur.
The Green Combat Calibur is scheduled for release in March 2009, with an MSRP of 20,790 yen.
News post
Now that they've released their Mugen Calibur figure from Dorvack (better known to most of us in the states as the original "Roadbuster" from transformers), CM's has announced a green version with an alternate head that lacks the chobham armor of the Mugen Calibur.
Neat design, but still waaaay pricey, even without the armor of the first release.
March release, 20,790 (!) yen
Jiminy crickets, that's not much less than the fully armored Caliber. I usually try to defend CM's pricing since they're such a small company making uber-niche toys, but this one sorta has 'GOUGE' written all over it. The armor makes up a LOT of the first release. It's a substantial amount of plastic in the box. Greenie here should be nearly half the price without it.
le sigh
To compensate for the anticipated fewer sales (it not being the "hero" mech), CM's probably made considerably less of this new one. Of course, making less means the cost of production goes up... meaning a more expensive toy... and less people buying it...
A vicious cycle. This is one I definitely predict seeing at Angolz and ebay for a significant discount in the future.
True true, I didn't even think of the probability of it being more limited. I'm keeping a keen eye on eBay for this one.
