NYCC 2009 Coverage: MattyCollector Panel

Posted on February 8, 2009 at 7:19 pm by Shin Densetsu under Convention News, New York Comic Con

We now have information that was presented at the MattyCollector panel at NYCC, hosted by Toy Guru & The 4 Horsemen! ToyARK member Flint was on hand and gave us the following intel:

IN 2009 they Are going to have full Brand Pages and Visual Guides for DCUC, MOTU, JLU, Ghostbusters, Cars, Toy Story.

New Items every Month in 2009

Justice League Unlimited

JLU 4 Packs every quarter

First Up Gotham Criminals on 2/17

Next Legion of Super Heroes : Brainiac 5, Lightning Lad, Cosmic Girl (and One other who’s name escapes me)

Then The Marvel Family: Captain Marvel, Black Adam, Mary Marvel and The Wizard Shazam

DCUC

April 15th Alex Luthor and Ultraman 2 pack Available

MOTUC

There may be some months with bonus figures. Bonus figures will be repaints or reissues, but don’t worry about things like Technocolor Skeletor. Think Mini comic or 200x style repaints.

SDCC exclusive in addition to July Figure, revealed in April.

Ghostbusters

12″ figures have a new body type pattened by Mattel that has never seen before with amazing articulation.

Will feature authentic accesories with moving parts. The line will represent all spectrums of Ghostbusters Media. Each Figure will be packed with a ghost. A new Figure will be available every other month.

12″ Ghostbusters figures will be $60 and 6″ will be $20.

Q&A Highlights

If MOTU contines to be successful, they may look at A Grayskull type display. Good chances of Battlecat and obviously Panthor.

The Cost for Mini comics would take away from things like extra heads. They are looking at doing a graphic novel reprinting the original Mini comics.

They are looking at international distribution centers for international fans.

MOTUC reissues would have minor changes like 2nd printing on packaging.

King Greyskull could get a reissue with different paint apps.

You will never see a rerelease of LOBO but he may be a possibility for JLU someday likely through Matty.

Director was signed for a MOTU movie

Shadow Weaver (MOTU) is off limits as are other Flimation characters. But if rights ever open up, they’ll probably jump on it.

Titus and Megator would be more possible then Modulock and Accessory packs with repainted weapons might happen one day.

They were looking at trying to do Thundercats, but the rights are not available.

Anti Monitor 30″ exclusive for SDCC. The 30″ Antimonitor was very expensive to make and the ones given away for the Raffel is hand put together and painted. They looked at producing them but they would cost $300 and they would have to sell 50,000 to be profitable.

Mattel has a massive set up at the show so expect to see the Ghost Busters toys, New He-Man toy and DC.

Hasbro is at the show and the case is over flowing with new Universe and X-Men toys..........Wait for it!

The Blackest Night stuff is looking great and I'm really looking forward to those figures coming out; too bad there's no individual picture of the Indigo Lantern visible in the background, though.

However...I'm concerned that the Atrocitus toy has made it this far with his Red Lantern symbol upside down. I really hope that gets fixed before these are released.

    Marvel Universe images added!

    Marvel Transformers Crossovers

I felt that it was only a matter of time before Crossovers Wolverine was repainted, and looks like I was right! I'll probably be picking this version up.

GOOOOO! Seriously, those Fury Files figures are a little plastic slice of nerd-nirvana. The character selection if a great mix of "A", "B", and "C" list characters, and the sculpts look fantastic.
