As much a fan of Joe I am, this Viper sculpt sucks monkey taint. It ranks right down there with the JvC AlleyViper as the biggest disappointment in Joe history. It looks okay with a casual glance (whereas the JvC AV looked like a pile of shiat to Stevie Wonder), but there's so many small issues that just plain ain't the way I would've gone that it adds up to a suckage of a figure.

    Issues of suck:
WTF is the point of removeable goggles if there's nowhere else to put them?
WTF is with not having a Trooper head under the helmet - or even making the helmet big enough for customizers to dremel it out so it'd fit?
WTF is with that damnable elbow flange sticking out to the side of the right arm? It doesn't improve the appearance of *any* fig it's ever appeared on, nor does it prevent the forearms from bending beyond normal range; but at least one could always just look at the fig from the front and ignore it but now that option's removed since they put it on the frickin' side.
Seriously, WTF is with the hands?

This set is just 5x suck to me. Enjoy it if y'all can; but I wish everyone would just stop buying this shiat mold so we could get a better sculpt of it.

I'm guessing the removable helmet Viper is supposed to be a nod to Mercer? Which leads to my second question: Are the rest of the helmets removable? Or is it more like Cobra Flint, where the heads are supposed to be interchangeable?

There have been many, many more disappointments, much worse than this current Viper. The main things I did not like on the Viper are the extremely loose fitting goggles, the hand positioning, and the limited range of motion in the ankles. With that said, I've seen a ton worse. The Duke-armed Duke and other Duke-armed figures are far more disappointing to me.

I'm not saying there's not worse figs in Joe history; but the expectation between 'Didja hear they're making a 25A Viper?' and what we got was *much* greater than the difference between 'Didja hear they're making a Link Talbot fig? and his crummy fig simply because nobody wanted him in the first place. Who doesn't want a super-bitchin' 25A Viper? How many people think that's what we got?
