Yamato Macross: Do You Remember Love? 1/60 VF-1S Max Type

Posted on December 21, 2008 at 3:04 pm by Shin Densetsu under Macross Toy News

Yamato’s 1/60 scale VF-1S Max Type from the Macross: Do You Remember Love? movie has been unveiled recently at HobbyCon. GA Graphic has posted images of this toy, which is the very first time that Max’s Skull One has ever been made in toy form. Despite only appearing onscreen for a few minutes, Max’s Skull One has been a fan favorite design for years, as it was the valkyrie he flew against Milia in an intense duel in DYRL?. Their dogfight is one of the most memorable scenes from the Macross series, and one of the many highlights of DYRL?. After years of waiting, fans will finally be able to get the VF-1S Max Type.

$100+ shipping/handling. The scene where this design is featured is AWESOME, one of the best DYRL scenes! Having scene most of the Macross series, I can say without a doubt, that scene is the most intense dogfight Max had with anyone, even more so than his dogfight with Milia in the TV series(which was awesome too).

I totally agree! I love the fight scene in DYRL much better than the TV series. Milia seemed more like she wasn't playing around!

That's true, she killed Kakizaki rather quick in DYRL. I love her dogfights with Max in both DYRL and the TV series, the duel in the TV series was animated so well, it was beautiful! You could tell that the animators were probably anticipating the days when they would start working on that episode. From Max barrel rolling and transforming to gerwalk to dodge missles to the end where he stands triumphant with his battroid's rifle raised up with smoke eminating from the barrel, that episode RULED! Which is yet another reason I want a VF-1A TV Max Type made eventually. Combat relevant! It's the same reason why people want Max's Skull One from DYRL, it's combat relevant!

I wonder why it's taking them so long with these 1/60 releases that they have released on the 1/48. it looks great, but we've seen it before.

The first releases of the new 1/60 line all center around VF-1s that Hikaru flew. Since Hikaru is the main character this didn't surprise me. Also this is the very first time that a toy of Max's Skull 1 will be produced, as the closest thing we ever got to that was his VF-1A Super Valkyrie(Skull 013). His Skull 1 does not exist in toy form outside of customs.

I dunno man, personally I prefer SDF Millia to DYRL. I mean, DYRL Millia seemed like such a total bitch, where in SDF she was more well-rounded. Example: in the show, Millia pleads with Max to disable rather than destroy some regults, as she doesn't want to kill her brethren. In DYRL, Millia murders Max's best friend, but later on Max is so pussy-whipped he has no choice but to forgive her.

I'm excited for this and I'm glad they aren't following the usual pattern of releases, BUT I already have a custom Max 1S so I'm on the fence about this one.
