Wolverine Origins 3 3/4 Prototype Figure

Posted on November 28, 2008 at 5:48 pm by Shin Densetsu under Marvel Toy News

A new image of a prototype Wolverine figure has surfaced. There is speculation that this figure is a prototype from the upcoming X-Men Origins:Wolverine movie toy line.

Being that the movie is a prequel, this figure could be of Wolverine during service in a past war, possibly World War II. This figure might also be in 3-3/4″ scale.

Looks like it's from when he was in WWII. Where'd you get the pic from?

That's what I was thinking, either that or a Weapon X Agent Wolvie

That looks cool. Can't wait to see him painted.

Yeah, the scuttlebutt on these was that they would be 3 3/4 given the price point that has already been up loaded in Walmart computers. This particular one looks like Logan in his TEAM X Stealth Suit when worked as a trio with Maverick and Sabretooth (black with gold trim).

    I like it!

Oh heck yea man I LOVE THAT COSTUME! For that matter the Spy Wolverine from the old Toybiz line was one of my favorites.

If this is indeed a 3-3/4" figure, I like how this has thigh swivels, it actually has more articulation than some of the Hasbro Marvel Legends 6" figures.

That's a dang nice Wolvie sculpt! I think I could dig on collecting some from this line if they are all up to this standard!

This looks more comic oriented. I have seen online images of Hugh Jackman in his WW2 gear and this looks NOTHING LIKE THE MOVIE DEPICTION.

Basically, in the movie, if you were to take a gi joe modern era cobra bazooka trooper, make it all camo green, and stick wolvie's head on the body and use all the gear except the bazooka. You'd have what he'd look like as 3.75 figure

Works out for me, Wolverine is my favorite character, and I love this scale!

I was referring to some of the flashback stuff they did in the comic before they got around to finally telling Logan's real origin story, since the uniform looks very WWII-esque, not the movie version.

Although I agree it may be based off the comic that Destro mentioned.

Yep, that's the one I was talking about. He first appeared wearing it in some Jim Lee issues of XMen (the early 90's "NEW" series during the intro of Omega Red) and he also appeared wearing it in one of my personal fave graphic novels: Team X & Team 7.

In the old Toy Biz Marvel X Men 5 inch line, it was black (later OD Green, then blue) with gold (later copper, then gold again) and had a bunch of knives that went in spots on each limb.

Treble- I also know the issues you were talking about. Back in the Marc Silvestri run on the Wolverine regular series. He was with the Devil's Brigade out of Canada. I think that it was flashbacks during the "Hunter in Darkness" early stories.

In case you couldn't tell, I'm a Wolverine nut. Still own my original copies of the mini-series that I bought off the carousel racks at 7-11 back in the day. Ah, the good old days of walking 4 blocks to grab a Slurpee, see if there were any comics, and playing Defender on the arcade cabinet. You couldn't help but look cool playing using 7 different controllers at once.

Deadpool, Blob, Gambit, John Wraith, Sivler Fox and a couple others IIRC. Anyone recall other characters that are supposed to be in the film?

In the comic Team X was:

    Vole (Aldo Ferro)
    Mastodon
    Silver Fox (no alias)
    Wolverine (James Howlett)
    Sabretooth (Victor Creed)
    Maverick (David North)
    Wraith (John Wraith)

In all fairness it is an awsome sculpt and I can't wait for more toys to drop b/c Wolvie has been my favorite comic since I was like 4 or 5, But I really hope this 3 3/4 inch scale fails in the long run. I know they save space but I hope us few and proud 6" collector's get some love too! I mean everyone complained about the 5" Marvel experiment but now they are turning a blind eye to this? I don't know, some ppl you just can't please. Maybe I'm one...naaaaaaaaaaaa!

Yes, and it was AWESOME. One of my favorite Wolverine figures.

I doubt 3-3/4" is taking space away from 6" ML. The 2 packs have been great so far, and if they continue into next year, I think we will get some great figures. Wave 2 has awesome character selection. There is room at retail for both scales, in my opinion.

I'd love to see this Wolverine in a Team X comic pack, paired with Sabretooth or Maverick. Wait, even Omega Red!

It is 3 3/4, like Joes, yes.

I can't wait to see more of these!

Similar design to the Joes, but if you take a close look at the legs/hips you will see that this is more in line with the new Fury Files. I cannot wait to see more of these. I really need the Team X team to go against my Team 7!
