The DC Collectibles Designer Series has put out some of the best overall DC action figures this year. They feature bulky sculpts with a wide range of articulation on most, great paint apps and great accessories. We’ve shot and reviewed 6 so far, and today we’re running catch up with one that’s been out for a while, the Red Hood. This isn’t Jason Todd tho, this is a Red Hood “Trooper” as seen in the New 52’s Batman books, specifically Issue #0 and The Zero Year story arc. While using the standard mask, he’s a trooper, when using the pill shaped helmet, he’s the Red Hood Leader, who at one point was the man that eventually became the Joker. Check out our quick shoot after the break courtesy of site sponsor Entertainment Earth!
Next up in our early looks at DC Collectibles Designer Series figures is Greg Capullo’s Catwoman. Releasing along side Wave 2’s Red Hood, Mr. Freeze, and Thrasher Batman, she rounds out some main players in Capullo’s New 52 Batman relaunch run. I’d have to say that Mr. Freeze is more impressive, but she still has some good qualities to her. Catwoman is set to release in December but she’s on the prowl today in our gallery after the break!
DC Collectibles next wave of Designer Series figures are here with round two of Greg Capullo’s Batman. Wave 1 consisted of Batman, Nightwing, The Riddler and Talon. Wave 2 sees a Red Hood, Mr. Freeze, Catwoamn, and Thrasher Batman (mech suit). Red Hood has been out for a bit but we haven’t picked him up yet, so he’s coming later. Today though we do have an early look at Mr. Freeze and Catwoman, with Mr. Freeze getting the full run down after the break. Read on for 30 high res shots and our thoughts!
The Toyark concludes it’s DC Collectibles Designer Series Greg Capullo figure shoots today with the Riddler! The Riddler rounds out the four initial releases along with Batman, Talon and Nightwing. Later in the year (Octoberish) we are set to get some more – Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, Red Hood, and Batman in the Thrasher suit! That’s a pretty sweet lineup right there when they all are out. Check out our thoughts and over 20 shots of him in action after the break.
The DC Collectibles Greg Capullo Designer Seires figures were originally going to be split on initial release, with Batman and Talon dropping first, then Nightwing and Riddler. That didn’t happen, and all four dropped yesterday (check your local shops or online retailers). Today we’re serving up galleries for Nightwing and Riddler, with Nightwing up first. Make sure to check our Batman and Talon shoots from yesterday while you’re at it! Read on to check out over 30 pics and some brief thoughts!
The Toyark is continuing it’s shoots for the DC Collectibles Designer Series today with the Greg Capullo Batman. This is our first alternate take on the New 52 design originating with Jim Lee. Capullo’s vision gives Batman a beefier look, an almost Frank Miller Dark Knight Returns look while still staying true to the new form. A nice visual fade into the recently unveiled Batman from Batman/Superman. Check out over 35 shots and our thoughts after the break!
DC Collectibles is transitioning their artist themed design from their statues and busts over to the action figure lines, and the first in the Designer Series is Greg Capullo. Capullo took over Batman in 2011 with the launch of the New 52, and his work has been praised. I personally read Batman uninterrupted for about 2 years starting with that, and can attest. DCC is now celebrating that with action figures based on his designs. In this post we’ll take a look at Talon, who shipped with Batman, the Riddler, and Nightwing. Read on to check over 25 shots of the Talon and some quick thoughts!
