CollectionDX talked with George Sohn of Toynami, and for you Robotech MasterPiece Collection(MPC) fans, the following news will brighten your day:
George said that the factory that did the Beta Fighters now have all the molds for the Alpha, and will tooling them from here on in. There is a possibility that we will see all plastic giftsets that include an alpha and beta in matching colors.
Aoshima was responsible for engineering and tooling of the Beta Fighter, and it is regarded as one of the very best toys in the MPC line. An all plastic release would be a more affordable option for fans, and reduce joint looseness, due to the lighter weight of plastic.
The plastic MPC Voltron has been successful for Toynami, and an all plastic Alpha Fighter has been on the wishlists of fans for quite some time.
Toynami’s Masterpiece Collection(MPC) VR-052F Cyclone Ride Armor Stick Bernard Type Vol.1 has been delayed, but patiently awaited by fans. Seen here are in package images, so it might finally be on it’s way here! Produced by Beagle with all new head sculpts designed by Tommy Yune, these will be sold here for a more affordable price than the Japanese versions under the Mospeada banner.
New in-hand images of Toynami’s long awaited MPC Beta Fighter have surfaced! After years of waiting, fans will finally be able to dock their Alpha Fighter MPC toys with their larger counterparts. This is the one of only three toys made of the Beta Fighter. The first was made by Gakken/Lansay, in very limited quantities, back in the 1980’s. The second was made from CMs corp earlier this year, and is not widely available outside of Japan. These two releases were sold under the Genesis Climber Mospeada banner as the Tread(the CMs version has only been sold as part of a set with it’s smaller Legioss counterpart). This toy will probably be sold by Aoshima in Japan, in Mospeada packaging, as part of Aoshima’s 1/48 Mospeada Action Model line. The Beta Fighter is a welcome addition to both Toynami’s masterpiece collection, and the fans of the Beta Fighter who never means to obtain one domestically, until now.
In-hand images of Toynami’s Robotech Shadow Chronicles MPC Vol. 1:Maya Sterling’s Shadow Fighter have surfaced. The daughter of famed Robotech characters Max & Miriya Sterling, Maya follows in her parent’s footsteps, and has become an ace. She also leads the Skull Squadron. This toy is compatible with Toynami’s upcoming Beta Fighters!
