Originally released back in 2013, the Portal 2 – Chell 7″ Scale Figure is back in stores again thanks to a new re-release from NECA Toys. The figure is based on the playable character from the modern classic Portal 2 video game from Valve. The Chell figure stands about 7″ tall and includes a figure stand, and an ASHPD Portal gun accessory. Toyark sponsor entertainment Earth sent along the figure for us to check out. After the jump you can check out some quick thoughts on the reissue and see our full photo shoot.

Overall
This re-release from NECA comes in a great window box that really shows off the figure. The packaging is designed to look like the portals from the game are the windows in the front and back of the box. It’s a great effect and allows the figure to stand out. Chell sits in a plastic tray alongside the included Portal Gun and a figure stand.
As someone who missed out on the original (and was looking to add the figure to my collection), I was grateful to see a retail re-release of Chell. For the reissue, NECA replaced the portrait, which was painted plastic on the original, with their translucent plastic that has a more life-like look to it. Aside from that, this is the same figure that came out about 5 years ago. Chell stands around 7″ tall and has 20 points of articulation. The Portal gun accessory includes batteries for the light up feature. A figure stand is included, and will likely be needed for most displays due to the unique design of the Long Fall Boots from the game. I was able to get Chell to stand without it, but I’d say most will want to simply use the stand.
Joints are solid here with no paint locking or noticeable looseness to them. Range of motion is good, and about in line with what you’d expect from a 2013 release. A nice tough, though, is that Chell’s ponytail is articulated. The pant work is handled mostly well, until you get to her eyes. The eye paint on this figure wasn’t as clean as I would have liked, with the left eye being especially undefined. The rest of the paint work is pretty much fine. The logos on her shirt and the gun are very clean and sharp. The paint wash on the jumpsuit adds some nice depth to the sculpt.
Chell is absolutely a welcome re-release from NECA. I do hope she is eventually joined by reissues of Atlas and P-Body as well. For those looking to pick up the figure, be sure to inspect the paint work on the eyes. Otherwise, this is a nice solid figure that’s fun to pose and has a great take on the Portal gun.
