2018 is not letting up with the S.H. Figuarts Dragonball releases, and this month we have none other than the mighty Frieza! This is a repaint of the first release Frieza with some minor changes. First, he doesn’t come with the rock base or feet to connect with it. The paint is a richer purple in all the normal spots. Instead of a bone white plastic with a grey wash, we get a more stark white plastic with an aqua wash. He’s been modified on the heads for a halo port, and comes with one to show his arrival from other world. All three facial expressions are new, and the sculpts seem a tad sharper than the original. Hands, tails, feet and energy blasts are all the same as before. The blasts do get a more saturated infrared coloring rather than the pink from the first run. Lastly, he has a tighter construction. The first version tends to flop around loosey goosey. He holds his poses, and actually needs 2 hands to move some of the joints they are so tight.
While not 100% necessary in the grand scheme of things – it is a solid release. I prefer the colors on this version, and it allows folks that missed the original run to get a key character close to retail price. Plus, you can show him off with the halo now representing his DBS appearance.
We’ve done up 60 HD shots showing what he can do. Read on to check them all out!
