Overall
This set offers up a store front, garage door, and additional wall and floor pieces. But what brings it all together is the addition of fold out gas pumps and the gas station overhead. This helps to make it a massive display piece, offering a lot of depth for fun to shoot scenes. Each wall panel is 12″ high and 20″ wide. The overhead stands a little taller at 14″ high and is over 36″ wide. By arranging the walls in different ways, you can make corners, or an “L” shaped gas station and garage. I wish I had a larger photography space to showcase the different ways in which the set can be displayed. The walls and even the additional gas station pieces are quite easy to assemble and set up. There are three floor pieces included, but I didn’t really use them in the shoot. They became a little too warped and I swapped them out for other flooring pieces I normally use. If that happens to your sets, you can get them pretty flat again by placing heavy, evenly distributed weight on top of them for a few days, which is how I store all of my sets to keep them straight. I just didn’t have enough time prior to shooting to do that for the flooring here.
They went with a mix of red and white for the color scheme, and overlaid a bit of graffiti and weathering to the print. The printing itself is sharp and detailed. The colors and added depth of the display allowed the figure stand stand out nicely while shooting. The printing on the wall pieces is also done in a way that allows them to line up easily without any wall looking out of place next to another panel. And while these are designed, mainly, with 6″ figures in mind, they work just as well with up to 8″ figures, and the walls can even work with slightly smaller scales, such as 5″ figures.
