Continuing their line of 10″ scale “figures” for The Walking Dead TV Series, the newest addition to the line is Negan by McFarlane Toys. As with all of the releases in The Walking Dead Deluxe 10″ Scale Figure line, this is essentially meant to be a dynamically posed statue. Previous releases include Glenn, Rick, Michonne and Daryl, all statically posed for easy display, but including a few additional accessories or swappable parts to offer variation on the display. With Negan, the approach was a simple, but effective one. The pose is straight out of the TV Series, as he takes aim at either Glenn or Abraham with his barbed wire bat; Lucille. It stands 10″ tall and comes packaged in a collector friendly window box.
McFarlane Toys sent along The Walking Dead 10″ Scale Deluxe Negan for us to check out. After the jump you can see my thoughts and over 35 photos of the 10″ scale Negan.
The Walking Dead 10″ Scale Deluxe Negan by McFarlane Toys
Pros
- Solid sculpt
- Decent likeness
- Nice, dynamic pose
- Good paint work
Cons
- No alternate display options
Overall
As mentioned, Negan is packed in a collector friendly window box. The packaging has a nice “Negan” themed design to it, with barbed-wire and blood splatter design elements. The back has a selection of other McFarlane Walking Dead products shown. Negan is packed on a plastic tray. It include Lucille and a small display base. A small bit of assembly is required, as the right arm needs to be attached.
The 10″ tall Negan looks quite nice in hand. The sculpt is on par, if not a bit better, than their 7″ and 5″ scale Negan figures, with accurate looking details throughout. The head sculpt is nice, though maybe not quite as life-like as Rick or Glenn. Regardless, it features solid paint work from head to toe, with nice multi-color paint washes on his jacket and pants, with more subtle washes on the skin tones. Paint lines, such as the eyes and hairlines, all are crisp. Negan does not feature any swappable parts or additional accessories (save for the stand). This is a bit of a departure from some previous releases in the 10″ line. Previous releases would include items like swap out weapons or interchangeable arms to offer additional display options. That’s not the case here. Thankfully, the pose they use is a strong one, with Negan winding up to take the first of many swings at one of his victims. If you so desire, the bat can be removed from his hands. The included stand is fairly basic. It doesn’t add much visually, there to mainly keep the statue from tipping over.
If you’re looking for a fairly inexpensive statue for your Walking Dead display, then it’s easy to recommend these 10″ deluxe releases by McFarlane. Negan’s strong sculpting and paint work, combined with a solid pose make for a nice addition to the lien up. Fans looking for a more articulated version of Negan will want to check out the smaller scaled version, especially the 5″ sized figure.
