Overall
The packaging for the the Ghostbusters Special pack is massive. The box itself is reminiscent of a paper ream box. It’s bright white with just a bit of printing on it. It’s immediately eye catching, but is functional in that it makes a perfect box for storage of the individual figure boxes. The top comes off, revealing the individual packages for the figures. Each figure is packed in a window box with a slip cover over it. Slimer and the bonus accessories are packed in a white box that sits below the figure boxes. The figures and their accessories sit on nice clamshell plastic trays, perfect for storage. The figures include a ton of accessories. Here’s the breakdown.

Ghostbusters Special Pack
Includes Special Gifts of Slimer with stand, Police barricade ,and ‘No Ghost’ sign light with strap on the top.
The individual figures are stunning in hand. The attention to details in every aspect of the production is outstanding. The costumes features very fine fabric, keepign the jumpsuits extremely thin. This allows the figures full range of motion, as the outfit does not hinder any of the articulation. Blitzway appears to have caught everything here. There are attached tubes, straps, functioning pockets, a removable belt, walkie talkie holsters, a detachable daughterboard, functional zippers and sewn on patches. The outfit also does a nice job of hiding most of the joints, creating a more seamless and lifelike look to the figures. There are numerous interchangeable hands included with each figure. Each figure includes multiple gloved and ungloved hands, each with their own functions. The hands are a slightly soft plastic, allowing you to swap them out easily and without fear of snapping the wrist joints. Each hand has just enough give to easily attach accessories, such as the wands, but are also strong enough to hold them without feeling too loose.
The portraits for each of the figures are handled very well. The base sculpts are immediately recognizable as each actor. These are probably the best likenesses so far for the four. Blitzway took great care with the paint work here as well. The faces have a slightly translucent look to them, making them look eerily realistic in hand. They uses multiple fine washes to simulate shifts in skin tones, splotches and assorted markings on the skin. If you look closely at the eyelids, you can even see tiny painted eyelashes. The neck joint is relegated to where the lower neck connects to the shoulders, so each head sculpt is seamless. The ungloved hands are handled is similar ways to the portraits, keeping them paint consistent between the heads and hands.
The proton packs and assorted accessories are equally nice. I won’t go over all of them, but you’ll see in the photos that each item is handled well. The proton packs are full of individual wires and a strong hose that connects it to the wand. The wand can be mounted to the proton pack itself. There are numerous printed warning signs throughout the pack, which adds to the realism. Each pack is outfitted with fabric straps, with functioning pull ties and a functional clip on belt, which helps keep the pack secured on the figures. Once clipped on, you can also pull that belt tighter. The packs are fairly light weight, but the extra weight does cause some balancing issues with the figures. They do tend to tip over with the packs attached, so I recommend using the included figure stands. The packs have light up LED features, with multiple blinking lights. Batteries are not included. They originally planned to, but had to opt out as they were not permitted to include the batters (they didn’t elaborate). The manual is being updated to reflect this. The proton stream attach directly the wands with no additional clips needed. When attached, they actually help balance the figure as it adds an equal amount of weight as the proton packs. The streams are cast in multiple translucent plastic and then brought together with a bit of glue. They’re bright, colorful and impressive looking.
The ghost trap is surprisingly detailed. It has spring loaded doors that can be opened with the press of a button. The main trap can also be separated from the housing, just as the Ghostbusters did in the film to dump the trapped ghosts into the Containment Unit. Other items based o nthe film includes Ray’s goggles, Egon’s PKE Meter (with functional antennae) and lit and unlit cigarettes included with everyone except Egon. Each figure includes an adjustable stand. It requires minor assembly, but has sliding rods so you can easily use dynamic poses with it. The mount can be switched from a clip to one that attaches under the figures crotches. Probably my favorite accessories are the included newspaper and magazine covers. these recreations of the print items used in the montage from the film look amazing. The printing is a bit fuzzy on them, but it doesn’t detract from how cool an addition it is.
As this is the Special Pack, Slimer, a Ghostbusters hanging sign and a police barricade are also included. Slimer is cast in translucent green plastic and includes his own specialized stand. Slimer has some articulation in his arms at the shoulders. The figure is a great bonus accessory and is a bit more stylized compared to the four figures. He has a great expression and the clear green is a nice touch. The hanging sign can light up, but I found the lights to be pretty weak. The police barricade requires a small bit of assembly and scales well with the figures.
The Ghostbusters figures from Blitzway are the definitive versions of these characters right now. They look stellar in-hand, and have an insane amount of display options thanks to all the accessories. If you’re a 1/6 scale collector, and have the coin to spend on such a massive set, then this is a hard assortment to pass on. Check out some select photos below and the full gallery after that.
