Overall
The City Hunter Predator comes packaged in a massive window box. The packaging featured blue and red based artwork featuring photos of the Predator and stylized art of LA. The interior features a stylized backer board, where the figure is held in with an assortment of twist ties and plastic overlays. While the figure can be placed back in the box after removal, there is no contoured tray, so the figure will sit loosely inside. In the box you will find the City Hunter Predator, his combistick, the smart disc, his netgun and the interchangeable hand. There are plastic tabs inside the mask and gauntlet that must be removed for the LED light up features to work.
Once removed from the box, the figure stands over 20″ tall. The detail throughout is fantastic. The sculpt of the figure is as intricate as you would expect from a figure this large. Textures vary greatly from the mask to the skin to the light armor. Fans will be pleased to see real netting used for the mesh throughout the entire figure. The legs have far greater articulation than the Jungle Hunter 1/4 scale figure. It featured full articulated hips and double jointed knees. The shoulders have a great range of motion, though the single jointed elbows offer limited movement due to the bulkiness of the movies gauntlet design. Both the waist and the neck offer swivel joints.Paint on the figure is handled with great care. The detail lines, skin coloring, metallic armor and more look great in-hand.
The smart disc can be placed in a holster on the hip and the netgun attaches, via magnets, to the lower left calf armor. The plasmacaster is already in place and can be removed or moved along the track. The right gauntlet features the iconic wrist blades, which can be extended out. The left gauntlet has a few cool features. There is a retractable Energy Flechette on the gauntlet. It also open up to reveal the self destruct device, which has a great LED feature as does the targeting system on the mask. The LED’s are bright enough to be seen under full light.
The retooled Predator figure is a great addition to the line up if you have the space. It’s even better than the 1/4 scale Jungle Hunter, with more articulation, especially in the legs. Strong accessories, easy to swap out parts and weapons and new features all come together for a fun figure. For those who don’t have the room for a 20″ tall figure, keep your eyes out for the Ultimate 7″ Scale City Hunter, which will hopefully ship out soon.
