Diamond Select Toys continues it’s Gotham Select line of action figures with Series 3, dropping this week. Included in this wave is Bruce Wayne, Barbra Kean, and Victor Zsasz. All 3 come with diorama pieces, are 7 inch scale, feature paint head to toe, and have above average articulation. We’ve run them all through a set along with their Series 1 and 2 mates after the break, head on in to check it out!
Gotham Select so far has been an up and down ride. Certain pieces are fantastic while others struggle. In waves 1 and two, stand outs include Harvey Bullock, Edward Nygma and Selina Kyle (depending on what angle you hit her on). In series 3, the winner is Victor Zsasz. The face sculpt is creepily on point. Wide range of articulation for a large scale, fully painted, suited figure as well. Barbra Kean doesn’t quite hit it for me, but her double jointed knees and thigh swivel under the dress, along with the great wrist articulation allows for some whimsical crazy lady poses. Bruce isn’t great, but isn’t bad either. Doesn’t really capture the actor’s face, but works as a general young Bruce. If in this scale, he’s small, could be a late teen Bruce if paired with 6 inch scale figures.
Of note in this line, and with these 3 figures – the diorama pieces. Zsasz gets a city street and the dumpster that was originally shown off with Bullock. Bruce gets a bookcase to go with Alfred’s fireplace. And Barbra gets a huge Arkham Asylum entrance way. Those pieces, especially the Arkham piece, are fantastically done and add value to the pick up. They can be re-purposed and used in displays regardless if the figure gets top billing on your shelves. They are great, I hope DST keeps up with that angle in future releases.
