Gamestop Exclusive Star Wars Return of the Jedi – Boba Fett Classic Bust
Pros
- Very good sculpt
- Nice use of paint throughout
- Great attention to fine details
- Weathering effects look really good
- Looks very nice with other Star Wars busts
Cons
- Real rope used is a bit too frayed, leaving rope pieces all over
Overall
The Boba Fett bust comes packed in a windowless, collector friendly box. The packaging features photos of the bust, as well as a bio for the famed bounty hunter. The design is the same as the previously released busts, so they all look quite nice together. Boba Fett’s box is slightly larger than the other busts, to accommodate his backpack. Inside the box, the bust sits in a full styrofoam tray, which has a nice Star Wars logo on it. The bust is wrapped in a plastic bag, and can easily be placed back inside for easy storage.
Like all of the Gamestop exclusive Star Wars busts, Boba Fett is just about ready for display immediately out of the packaging. There is a small bit of assembly required. The Rangefinder for the helmet is not attached, and is packed separately. It’s a small, thin, metal antenna that fits snugly into the right side of the helmet. You can display it with our without. I have photos of both, so you can see how it looks. There are no interchangeable parts included. Unlike the other busts, Boba Fett includes a non-sculpted soft piece. The used actual rope for his Braided Wookie Scalps. The rest of the bust is cast in polyresin and has a nice bit of weight to it. It’s very solid and sturdy. The backpack includes the iconic rocket, though it cannot be removed. This bust is based on Boba Fett’s look in Return of the Jedi, as opposed to his look in Empire Strikes Back. This means a green cape instead of yellow, a more colorful backpack, a pure gray jumpsuit, and a slightly more saturated green on the Mandolorian armor. The colors look really good here. The Boba Fett, unlike Vader or the Stormtrooper, has a lot of sculpted texture throughout. The paint used here highlights that fine texturing, with nice washes and scorch marks. Paint lines are very clean, with no noticeable paint bleeds or errors.
The Boba Fett bust is a great addition to the line up. The fine textures used throughout are a nice change compared to the high gloss on the other Gamestop exclusive busts. Check out some highlight photos below and the full gallery after that.
