NECA‘s Ultimate line has been a chance for them to revisit figures and characters with a new focus on upgraded accessories, paint and articulation. Great offerings for Terminator, Predator and Horror lines have already dropped and today we’ll take a look at their most recent – God of War’s Kratos. GoW is one of my favorite modern video games, so luckily resident NECA enthusiast Joe Moore let me take a crack at this bad boy. He does not disappoint. Let’s take a closer look after the break with over 60 images courtesy of BBTS!
NECA Ultimate Kratos
Kratos is bad ass, and so is this figure. This is pretty much everything I want in a modern, mid-price figure. Heck, they could’ve charged more and it’d be worth it. 7 inches has a solid stance on the shelf. Articulation in all key points, with all modern tech (double jointed knees, rocker ankles, toe bends, swivels where they count, wrist bends, ab crunch). Sculpt is top notch head to toe. The armor is there, war skirt has cuts and grooves, even the boots have multi layered wing feathers. Both heads capture Kratos perfectly with his tat and scar. The gauntlets are giant, stay in place and are cut to perfection. Then you add the paint. Paint is layered and weathered where needed, the red tribal tattoo is sharp and crisp. Kratos’ white skin isn’t just a coat of white paint, there’s multiple shades to give depth. It’s all stunning, and comes in a great presentation as well. The backdrop is cool, tho I’m generally don’t care about those as I don’t use them in actual displays. They did make for some cool shots tho here. Presentation, sculpt, paint, articulation – 10 of 10. Grab him now, worth it!
