S.H. Figuarts Dragonball Z revved up this year in 2015. We’ve seen 5 releases so far, 2 more coming, plus today’s shoot – Ultimate Gohan – for a total of 8. To date, 24 different figures have been released! The slow but steady pace has given us a good set of classic characters in their various forms, and doesn’t show any sign of slowing down. Ultimate Gohan adds to the roster, continuing into the Buu Saga that Vegetto started earlier this year. Gohan rocks his orange and blue gi just like his father as seen in the show, all grown up now. Let’s take a look after the break along with some additional thoughts.

S.H. Figuarts Dragonball Z Ultimate Gohan
Pros
Solid dense plastic, strong joints hold poses
Effects piece and stand a good bonus
Cons
Another Goku base body figure
Overall
Not sure how I feel about this one. I do like it, solid figure all around. Direct from show, can’t complain there. It’s just that we have another Goku body with a new head, and this one is literally the same down to the colors. Everything but the head and effects piece is a straight Goku reuse. Show accurate – yep. Personally I would have preferred they hold off on this and get some other core characters out there, or at least new looks for the main players. They are doing that, just slowly. Again, not sure what I’m complaining about. Just tired of that Goku body. Tien (new or old), Yamcha, Nappa, Master Roshi, tike Gohan, even Resurrection F Gohan would have been a nice change. (A ton of new figures were shown since this article was originally written).
Bottom line, should have been done, glad it was, wish we had some newer stuff first before going back to this mold. Grab it to stay complete and prepare for the Buu they teased a while back (check our Jump Off page for that).
