Responding to a question on the MattyCollector Forums, Scott “Toy Guru” Neitlich has clarified that the chances for future Masters of the Universe Classics Playsets is pretty much slim to none. Apparently many fans did not fulfill their pre-order obligations and never claimed their Castle Grayskull. Here’s what he had to say:
Question
Hey TG,
I have recently read your comments around fans not completing their CG pre-orders which I find pretty disappointing. Obviously not your fault.
Had you or your team ever discussed the possibility of setting forth a deposit for these big ticket items? I know certain online sites (Sideshow Toys comes to mind) that require a deposit depending on price of item. They also have cancellation fees for their “flex pay” items. I think its a good way to protect themselves and ensure that these cool services move forward.
So in closing question is…..Is Matty open to “deposits” for big ticket items. It will either help offset costs or truly let you know how serious fans are about purchasing a big ticket item. Have a good day and looking forward to SDCC
Answer
Always possible but at this point it is doubtful we will explore something this large again. We always expected their would be a percentage of presale customers who never complete their order, but it turned out their were way more and in the end we just can’t muster the logistics at this point to attempt another playset, even with a “deposit factor”.
The ship has sailed.
So those hoping for a companion Snake Mountain for their Masters of the Universe Classics figures look to be out of luck.
