S.H. Figuarts Dragonball Z line has been a fun ride, giving us super poseable screen accurate figures for a couple years now. Their most recent release was Son Goku, a non Super Saiyan rendition of the series main character. We’ve run him through a shoot so you can see for yourselves if he’s worth a pick up. Check out over 40 shots of Goku and friends after the break, courtesy of site sponsor Entertainment Earth!

Same figure as Super Saiyan version, just new hair and faces.
I am happy they did a non Saiyan version of Goku. However, with all these Super Saiyan versions, I would prefer they do what they did with Trunks and put all the faces and hair add ons in one piece. Especially since the figure otherwise was not changed, and there weren’t many other accessories. With Vegeta, we got a mold change and new accessories along with the face/hair swap, so it made sense. Trunks, they dumped it all in one box. Here, they just duplicated SSJ Goku, added some hands, and gave you black hair. Now, if they changed the body, or gave you a significant amount of new accessories, I would have nothing to say. Overall, great figure as it was before, and if you want to eventually set up SSJ and non SSJ dios of these guys, he’s a grab. Now we just need a little tike Gohan to go with him. :)
