Review
The Crashlings are a series of toys aimed at young kids. They have a huge selection of miniature figures. They remind me of the popular Trash Pack line of figures, so if you have kids that like those, these will be perfect for them. Wicked Cool toys sent along one of their 4-packs for us to check out. they come carded with an easy to remove bubble, and no dreaded twist ties. The 4-pack includes four different figures and four meteors. Two of the meteors feature a rubber half that allows you to “pop” the top off. You can also use it to flip inside out, place a figure on top and watch them fly into the air.
Also sent along was the Catapult City Playset. It’s a mix of a playset and a game, adding some extra play value to it. It includes a towering launcher, a small spring loaded catapult, a base area, three Crashlings with meteors and stackable domino-like building pieces. there’s also a zip line with a basket. The tower can hold numerous meteors (great for easy storing) and features a lever that launches them one-by-one down a ramp towards the base. The meteors crash into the stackable buildings, or any unlucky Crashlings. the zip line allows you to load up the basket with Crashlings and send it flying towards the base. The included catapult can be used to aim at the base, the falling basket or the meteors rolling down the ramp. Though I had fun just flinging Crashlings across the room as the spring in it was stronger than I anticipated.
For as small as the Crashlings themselves are, the sculpts on them are quite nice. They’re unique and the paint jobs are crisp and clean. They also feature holes in the bottom of them, so they can be placed on top of pencils and pens. I think, for the younger kids out there, these things are great fun. They’re pretty inexpensive (see below) and there’s a ton of them. They fit in with other similar lines, especially those Trash Packs (my nephews love those things).
