Possible Technodrome, Classics Large Bodysuit Krang And Classics Party Scale Van Hinted At

Powercon was earlier this month but since Ninja Turtles are popular around here we’d be remiss to overlook these nuggets of information. Grizzly over at the Technodrome forums has posted snippets from his interview with Playmates Toys. Evidently the brand seems to be doing very well as we might have some very exciting toys to look forward to:

–Classics line is doing extremely well, and is going to be continuing beyond the Movie Turtles. Have wanted to work on the line for a long time.

–A LARGE Bodysuit Krang in Classics is being heavily looked at. Shredder/Splinter were not denied by Pat Linden.

–1990 Turtles HAVE been sculpted, and are in Hong Kong being tooled right now. Due for release next July/August in time for the new movie. They will also have the same amount of articulation as the current Classics (including fingers).

–Kirby Bat has been confirmed as being…well. You know who.

–Mutagen Man will come with ooze that can be put into him, with a button feature that with cause it to come out of his hand.

–Hinted Kraang Prime. LOTS of new characters coming out.

–They ARE working on the new movie. Aimed with both kids, and collectors in mind. Toys and movie will cause everyone to “to be pleasantly surprised amount of detail, articulation, and overall look of the characters, too. Looking very forward to launching the movie segment”.

–Sewer playset for the Nick line has paid off well. Given that, more playsets ARE coming. Technodrome strongly hinted at.

–Don’t count on larger characters being re-released as deluxes, such as Dogpound, Leatherhead, and Spider Bites. It HAS been discussed, but retail doesn’t want it. Doesn’t mean they won’t TRY, but for now, they’re set in their scale.

–If Classics continues to do well, a Party Van in scale could be a possibility.

It’s a good time to be a Ninja Turtles fan right now, and evidently it’ll be even better in the future!

This is all fantastic news - except for the kibosh being put on the deluxe versions of the villains. I'm seriously getting tired of retail stores getting in the way of good stuff getting produced.

The only Classics figures I plan to buy are the ones associated with the movies, but if they do in fact release a large Krang android I won't be able to resist it.

Also, I've been wondering all along if they planned a toyline around the new movie... I'm honestly pretty surprised that it's happening, because they're already putting out toys on several different iterations of the Turtles. A person could almost be spoiled by that kind of offered variety!

That is really interesting news actually. I'm curious though about the technodrome. The mentioned the sewer playset first, so would it be the technodrome from the Nick TMNT or a revision for the classics line?

If it's for the classics line, then I just predicted the future, as I started a thread earlier about older toys I'd like to see get updated, and technodrome was right there.

I hope they keep coming with the Classics stuff. I've liked everything released and seen so far. But please, please give us a Splinter and Shredder (cartoon or movie versions) before this line outstays its welcome.

As for the actual topic of this thread: excellent news, all around.

I suppose I better start setting aside some money to keep up with all the good stuff coming out for TMNT as well.
Thanks for the link. So looks like the actual source is a podcast called The Collector Conection:

"The Collector Connection Episode 2: Power-Con 2013 Special with Hosts Sean Long, Pixel Dan, and ShartimusPrime featuring JayC of ToyNewsI.com. Our Guests include Scott Neitlich from Mattel and Pat Linden from Playmates Toys."

Strange how none of that was mentioned in the Toy Ark report. Giving the podcast a listen now though.

And yet a link to the source is posted in the second sentence of the news post...

Oh really? Because the only link I saw in the Toy Ark story was to some message board called the Technodrome quoting some guy named Grizzly as the source. Grizzly from what I can tell had nothing to do with the actual podcast, he's just some poster on that message board who was sharing information he heard second hand.

That thread was where we pulled the info from. The same thread where he posts a link to the podcast. We credit the source from where we are sharing the info from. Regardless of whether he was part of the interview or not, he was the one who provided the breakdown that we are quoting.

Shin Densetsu's news post is no different than any news post we've done here, or any of our sister sites.

So does this mean the first wave will see a re-release to include figures that look closer to these designs?

Hmmm that just seems strange that you wouldn't quote the actual source or take the time to verify the validity of the news you report. For instance if you all had actually listened to the podcast where this information came from which I now have, you would have probably caught the part about the Classic Krang suit figure. The guy from Playmates never said anything about a Classic Krang figure in the interview. One of the guys on the Podcast who is a Transformers guy later said during the Q&A portion of the show that he thought someone at the Playmates booth during Powercon mentioned it, but wasn't sure. The others on the Podcast thought he might have gotten confused, mistaking it for the retro stuff.

It's one thing for a guy on a message board to post something on a forum which 9 times out of 10 is conjecture or misunderstanding and another for a toy news website to report that as factual news without doing any kind of verification or at the very least going to the original source of the information, don't you think?

Nowhere does it say that this is "factual" in any way. Rumors are part of our reporting, not only here, but all of our sites. Always have been always will be. As a fan run site, we post what we want and how we want to. If we want to quote a 5 year old saying he heard that Hasbro will steal MOTU away from Mattel, we'd be free to do so.

And I don't have anything else to say on the matter. You've said your peace and I've said mine.

Let's get this back to the actual topic of the thread.

No they mean the look of the turtles from the first live action movie in 1990. The next figure releases for the line are bebop and rocksteady, which should be out any time now.

Whoa, I didn't mean to cause all of this kerfuffle!

No, I am not the one that interviewed Playmates. All credit goes to Shartimus Prime, Pixel Dan, and Sean Long.

I merely listened to the podcast, and gleaned the bits that I found interesting ad mist all over the yakkity yakking between the hosts. I don't claim credit. Just posted news I heard with fellow Turtles enthusiasts.

I find it hard to believe classics is doing so well, not for lack of sales but product availibility, never seen these at retail at all.

I guess they are making enough good money from online retailers.

You know the classics turtles pretty much do look like that image you posted unless I missed soemthing since the original soft headed turtle figures when I was little, the classics are the closest we have seen to the old art/cartoon.

I love Rocksteady and Bebop but the no ankle thing is very dissapointing for the price, will be all over the normal sized ones that I guess are goign to be cartoon styled at least they will only be $8.88.

I hope the movie stuff that comes out is articulated as the first wave of the nick turtles that came out hopefully they won't be cool designs then look liek the Iron Man 3 figures.
